lq9 durability......?
I am looking at getting an lq9 block and selling my ls1 short block. i want to know how strong the 6.0L blocks are. I am planning on running a twin turbo set up and do not want to put money into building an engine only to have the block break. Also what is a ls6 intake off a 02 camaro ss worth with injectors and rails. THANK YOU FOR THE HELP

the block itself should be good to 1000 + hp. any more and Id put a girdle on there. The ls6 intake has been proven to over 800 hp for FI applications. I am pretty sure you will have to get some aftermarket rails to flow enough fuel, and I KNOW you will need bigger injectors. I'm only a bolt on car and my injectors are maxed out. You'll probably need some 60 lb + injectors. You are still going to need to upgrade the rotating assembly though.

From everything i Read the 6.0 iron blocks are good to 1000hp. I believe one guy is getting that with the stock crank, but imo its not worth worrying about it. Forge the rotating assembly lower the compression and run 700rwhp without a problem.

at what power range does the ls1 block start to become a concern with or with out a main girdle.

If you forge the LS1 motor, it can handle quite a bit for sure. There are some FI guys that have made 800whp with a forged LS1 block on the stock crank without it even flexing. What power are you figuring you are going to want? If you are thinking in the 1000+whp region then I would suggest moving to a LQ9 minimal or possibly even an LSX block. If your only looking to do it once and last a VERY long time, then that is the route that I would suggest. The LSX is a bit pricey, but well worth the insurance. Anything below say 850whp should be tame enough for the LS1 block, but I would forge the snot out of it with ARP hardware/studs on everything. A girdle is only needed if your going to do a max effort 1200+whp motor, if that is what you are planning. Depends on what your goals are...
I'm not expert though, I would contact or call a sponsor if I where you>>>
Most likley LME, Virgina Speed, or HKE would be you best bets. They are some of the top engine builders for LS series motors that have made motors day in and out for applications like this. They would know better than anyone just about, and could point you easily in the right direction.

I am planing about 900whp. I am looking at a rotating assembley from texas speed, with a dragon slayer crank, compstar rods and weisco -32cc pistions, and i will have arp studs in the heads. it will be mostly a strip car that is street drive once and a while.
