Default 0-40 Mobil 1 ?

Hi ls1 tech guys,

Is it alright to put 0-40 Mobil 1 in my 02 LS1 Camaro, because the people that supplied it use Mobil 1 0-40 in the LS1 Vauxhall/Holden Manaro and they said it would be fine what do you guy think?

Moving to internal engine forum.

Yes 0w 40 is ok. I use 5W 30 like the owners manual calls for.

I would stick with the owners manual as well. But hey, reinvent the wheel if you want.

I ran 0/40 M1 in my car from the get go. Never had a problem in 20K miles worth of asskickings.

im on 0-40 m1 euro just changed it tonight with m1 filter...it is quieter and seems to accelerate with slight more ease but i think its my imagination. ill see how it goes and most likely switch back to m1 5 30 just to be safe but who knows it could grow on me to "reinvent the wheel" lol

Welcome back 2009!

I've been using this oil in all my LS1s for probably 10 years now. No complaints at all.

Recognized as one of the best overall compatible oils for LS engines. Yet for $9 a quart at my local O'Reilly's, I find better value elsewhere.

I used it for quite some time, I found that slightly heavier weight oils helped with valvetrain noise(sewing machine). You should be just fine using it though.
