Default ls1 motor mount clamshell ?

can anyone confirm that the clamshell part of the motor mount that attaches to the engine block is the same for each side or are they different?

There is a top and a bottom to the motor mount, but drivers and passengerside mounts are interchangeable.

Top and bottom..as in the way it's shaped, the Humps point away from the Engine.

I'm talking about the way they bolt to the block. The more pointed end of the clamshell is down, while the flatter end is up. Up-Top. Down-Bottom. I can't say I've ever put them on upsidedown, but I believe its possible, so just as a precaution, be sure you're putting them on oriented correctly. Installing these are a bitch, no reason to make it worse by making easy mistakes.

Cool, didn't know that..basically point it down.

Do you have a link to something that says that specifically?

I just replaced my mounts and while I'm not saying its impossible I highly doubt you can put them in upside down because that little tab that sticks out on the poly mount has to rest on the pedestal thats bolted to the frame.

^^That's what I thought.. that little part points out, as in toward the Frame Rails.

I guess I don't know of a link that tells you which way they mount. I do have three sets of instructions from the Prothane Poly's that I've installed in the shop. I suppose I could scan it and post a picture if you really want to see my source. LOL. Let me know and I will.

Yeah. I understand the way the bushing is placed in the clamshell so the tabs are at the top. This way the tabs rest on the motor mount pedestal. So as long as you don't accidentally mount the bushing in the clamshell upside-down (which is not impossible), mounting the assembly to the block should be a no-brainer.

I don't mean to make such a big deal of this. I just know if there is a way to **** it up, I'm usually pretty good at finding it. So any info to help me or anybody else along the way can't hurt. LOL
