Nitrous, or heads/cam to insure a good *** whipping....Those cars can make 450 rwhp pretty easy...

you think it could be done with .... FTRA,lid, ported maf housings ... free mods ... flp lt with y and no cats .... hooker catback ... 4.10's and a TR 224??

Depending upon driver, those mods will likely be enough. It could be done for alot cheaper though if you went with Pacesetters ($330 ceramic coated).
Or you could just run no mods but a lid and a 100 dry shot and probably achieve the same effect. He is likely still under 400rwhp, and will be a bit heavier.

Peace,

Ha! it'll take more than that. Unless the Cobra driver sucks. I've seen them at the track still struggling in the mid 13's

I saw a vert run 103mph at my local track. Shouldn't take much to top that.

You should be able to take him on street tires hes going to have to ease it out quite a bit to keep from just burning up the tires.

I've seen one at my local track most of the summer only trap at 109-110 mph with boltons and et streets. They are not really that fast until they do a supercharger pulley change. Get all the boltons with cam and gears(then you need tires) then you should get him.

if your really serious about 1/4 mile **** build up your drivetrain first before delving to much into the engine. you cant beat a cobra with a fried clutch and broken 10 bolt

wish I had the chance to take my car to the drag strip but thats not going to happen till mid january.

Maybe my mods and dyno # could give you a better idea.

airlid w/ K&N
160 stat (160 correct fan settings)
TB bypass
TR 224 114 (mine was actually 225/224.5 113.8 LSA)
corsa catback
slp y-pipe
ASP pulley
tuning by moe horsepower.

360rwhp and 353rwtq on 12.8s and lower A/F ratio readings.

This is without headers ofcourse and its on a 2002 fbody.
Car pulls amazingly faster redlining at 6600 rpms. I would think with headers (coming soon) i'd beat a cobra easily and *hoping* to compete with a Z06.

If your crazy about 1/4 mile times 4.10s are cheap and knock off almost a second if traction is available.

If you have a good amount of money, spray a 100 or 125 shot "SAFELY" and you will have a good laugh.

.
4.10s wont knock off a second even with traction.
alsp 4.10s with f-body rears dont agree with each other.

Stay away from the ported MAF housings, you won't gain anything and they will probably make you run lean. FLP LT's are nice but Kooks are just as good and cheaper. 4:10s only for an M6 3:73s for A4. The Tr 224 is a good cam but I'd probably go alittle bigger. You shouldn't need that much to take a 03, a buddy of mine at work has one, it made 386 on the dyno and he won't even mess with me.

Let's see if I can help here...

Those cars can make 450 rwhp pretty easy...
True, but not without a pulley swap.

A good driver.
There's some truth here. The Cobra will win easily with equal drivers though.

you think it could be done with .... FTRA,lid, ported maf housings ... free mods ... flp lt with y and no cats .... hooker catback ... 4.10's and a TR 224??
It could be done with much less than that actually.

Or you could just run no mods but a lid and a 100 dry shot and probably achieve the same effect. He is likely still under 400rwhp, and will be a bit heavier.
A 100 shot of nitrous would do it for sure. You're wrong about being under 400rwhp though. Intake and exhaust will put him around 420rwhp.

I saw a vert run 103mph at my local track.
That's a 'vert and most likely the driver is a newbie or just brutal. That is by no means a typical run.

You should be able to take him on street tires hes going to have to ease it out quite a bit to keep from just burning up the tires.
Not if you go from a 50mph roll. Do NOT go from a roll with him or he will eat you alive!

he needs some tires street tires will be useless
Not true. Plenty of guys run low 11 to mid 11's in the 120-123mph range on F1's.

Here's what I would do in your case. Get a set of drag radials and a cam. That spells lights out unless he has a pulley.

with the mods listed, I agree with Unit and say that drag radials and a cam could take him... alot depends on the driver, too... we have a guy here in ATX that has a mostly stock car that is at 12.7s@112 mph... he just knows how to drive... that's an '01 M6 Z28... no matter what, though, do the cam and drag radials and consider a 100shot as a way of sealing the deal... good luck... let us know how it goes...

I had an '00 Z28 with only a lid, catback, free mods, and nitrous. It ran 12.2 @ 118mph on the 100 shot and a 11.5 @ 121mph on a 150 shot. That was on street tires. See what nitrous can do for you.
