Default throttle body

Anybody know what the biggest throttle body you can put on a stock ls1 with headers and exhaust is?

I wouldn't waste your money on an aftermarket LS1 TB. If you do anything have your factory TB ported and leave it at that. If you want to go bigger down the road, save up for the FAST and be done with it.

Lol, ok. Sounds good. What should my next mod be? I'm not looking to buy new heads, supercharger, or turbocharger.

Now what exactly do they do to the throttle body when they port it? What effect does it have power wise?

It doesn't have a huge power effect (MAYBE a couple hp), it's mostly for improved throttle response. However, for power, anything helps right?

Yeah porting won't have a major gain. However, it will probably have the same gain as a $400 aftermarket TB you would buy to replace it. Look at a lid, and porting the TB on the induction side. From there you can look at some other small stuff like a UD pulley for some more power or a set of subframe connectors would be a good investment.

Start saving for a rearend if you plan on racing it at a dragstrip.

don't mean to HYJack this thread, but do I need a re-tune if I add a ported TB? I just spent $600 on a dyno tune, don't want to screw anything up (currently have a stock TB) on there now

if youre an M6, you should definitely invest in a rear if you wanna drag race it and come back with any decent times. do you have the money for a supercharger/turbo build? you gotta build the trans as well for that, along with the fuel to hold it, and of course the motor. if you are serious about a FI build, check otu the STICKY in the forced induction section called "the real price of forced induction"
