cam position sensor
Here's the problem I had a code p0343 for the cam sensor so I replaced the sensor. And it still gives me the same code and the car is still hard to start it did not affect the performance at all. And I don't know if this has anything to do with it but the tach does not work and my abs and tcs lights are on. Has anyone had anything similar.

You might check the harness for a bad connector or burnt wire. Thats the correct sensor that you changed. Did you clear the codes after changing the sensor? Check the harness that plugs into the PCM it may be loose.

it only bolts in one way so its kinda idiot proof im thinkin mabey a bad new sensor too the old one had no metal on it. is there a way to test the sensor or the wires going to it? do you think mabey a bad pcm? someone told me that the pcm may have to be reprogramed with the factory settings????

I don't know how to test them, maybe with an ohm meter. I asked about the metal because I had a lifter fail and the cam sensor picked up the metal shavings. I don't know why the PCM would need programming. Do a search and try to find the trouble shooting guide from the service manual for that code. With the elec. drawing for that circuit aleast you could check for voltage at the connector etc.

Any news with your cam sensor problem. I got the same code, I running my new Gen 3 LQ9 with a Gen 4 timing cover with front cam sensor. The engine start and run but It take a bit a long time to start when its cold.

I read a post describing my exact problem in detail, some1 mentioned a crank position sensor relearn was needed after it had been chnged. I wonder if a cam position sensor relearn would be needed in your case...........

Was there any damage on the old sensor like maybe the cam reluctor wheel was contacting it?
For your wiring, the red is 12V, Pink/black tracer is your low reference, and brown/white tracer is your cam signal wire. These wires all go straight to PCM...no connectors or fuses in between.
I would unplug sensor, key on engine off, put a test light between pins B & C (red and pink/black) and make sure it lights. Then ohm check your signal wire from cam sensor connector to PCM. It's connector 1 pin 73 at pcm.
Also, there is no cam sensor relearn procedure.

you might have to a crank relearn which needs to be done by a tech 2 at a dealer. they will have to enter the crank relearn mode and they will have to hold it at different rpms when tech 2 says to. i used to have this problems when i had fbodies come to the dealer. ignition can also keep the tach from working. is your security light coming on and staying on at times?

i checked the pins on the conector(they were fun getting to with the intake on) they checked out fine. i took it to the dealer monday and i saw the guy attempt to do the crank sensor relearn he veved it a couple of times then quit from what i saw on the screen i dont think he did it right. ill take it back to have it done again hope i get someone who knows how to do it and see if that works
