You don't need the K&N filter or smooth bellow. If I did it over I'd just get a lid ($90), and the SSRA, FTRA, or Chris1313 ($200ish).

holy **** batman that's expensive. get the lid only and spend the rest on ls6 intake if you have the 98,99,00 f-body or if you have 01 and 02, get some LTs with that money.

Just the lid, and a used one is as good as a new one
pretty much.

i've got 02 z28 so ls6 intake is out of question, i'm a newb so pardon my igorance, what is SSRA? and what's chris1313?

here's what i have in mind for induction:
lid
FTRA
descreened MAF?? (Not really sure if i should do it)
PnP Throtte body

what else would fit on that list to make the car breath better

car also already has
pacesetter LT
and SLP Catback
would replacing cats with ORY gain me anything?

http://www.speedinc.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=Induction Scroll down and look for "Chrs1313 Ram Air Kit" The FTRA is similar to the Chrs1313 ram air kit, however it is about 2.5x SMALLER. Don't descreen your maf. Lid is a must. Replacing cats with ORY would definitely gain you some power, just make sure passing emissions is not a concern.

A lot of people argue if descreening the maf helps, and argue it can cause idling issues. Half the people on this site say do it, the other half say don't so it's a wash. I'll tell you my experience, my brother and I both descreened and it was fine. I also know a ton of guys on this site that are descreened and their cars run fine.

Cats usually choke out around 5hp from all my research in the dyno section. Here is a video my brother and I made of some mods we did to see what the difference in acceleration was. We raced each other between mods...

http://www.streetfire.net/video/ls1-...ing_643805.htm

Some people said there were to many variables to say in the test, but you can't argue that his car got faster and faster and faster with each mod. It wasn't just some magic fluke that he put more and more cars on me every mod he added.

I put the SLP cold air scoop, just like in the picture in the link, on my previous V-6 Bird and was happy with it.

But I paid only $120 for the scoop only. Keep looking. You can just buy the scoop. Damn, $300 some dollars is too much. Go direct to SLP and see if you can just get the scoop.

Paid waaay less here too, but did notice a difference with the duct installed, my IATs are just about ambient now, where as before they were in the 40-50C range....

Just get a lid. I had descreened MAF until the plastic MAF housing cracked overtime and I shoved the stock screened MAF back in. To be completely honest I didn't feel any difference when I switched mine to stock.

I personally would just do FRA mod instead going w/ any CAI.

I would say to look for a used lid in the for sale section or just pick up a new one since they can be had for under $100. You plan on hitting the track often? If so go for a chris1313 ram air or something along those lines. If you aren't worried about ET's then FRA would probably suit you fine and you can't beat the price.

No, with free ram air you may gain a few rwhp. With something like the FTRA you will gain more than with just FRA and should lower your ET's more. I gained over 1 MPH at the track going from free ram air to the Chris1313 ram air setup. So its a matter of would you rather do the FRA for free or pay a little more for the FTRA with better results. In my case I stepped up from the FRA which I ran for 6 years to the Chris1313 ram air and was pleased with the results.

I have this exact same kit on my ls6 in my 99Z28 i bought from lmperformance and to be completely honest with you i really don't feel a difference at all in the before and after install. On their site they claim another 25 hp but i doubt its truly that high. Also the instructions that come with the kit especially talking about the cutting you have to do is very vauge. IMHO since i've got the kit, save some money and just do a lid/filter. The bellows piece is over priced and is inconvenient when trying to pull up your lid because of how thick the rubber is. Also people are right, this forum is 50/50 on whether to descreen the MAF. I did it and have no problems what so ever.
Hope this helps and good luck with your power goals.
