trick flow top end kit
i'm doing a ls1 swap into a 97 camaro z28. i was looking to put the 515hp trick flow top end kit on before i install the ls1 in the car. would i be able to drive the car with the kit and keep the stock fuel pump, exhaust manifold, injectors, tune, intake, TB, etc.... and just upgrade as i get $$$??? or what would i have to upgrade to make it driveable so i don't blow it up????
i'm looking to buy a complete ls1 with the computer and harness from a 98-02 camaro or firebird, sell the lt1 and sell the stock parts that the kit will replace.
my goal for this build is to get 500+rwhp when its done, i would like to put this kit on, put the ls1 in, and upgrade the rest as i go, i'm working with limited cash flow

I'm fairly certain the 515 horse is @ the flywheel w/appropriate bolt-ons; headers
exhaust,etc.....also not sure the lt fuel pump is adecuete....thought i heard the factory
ls style fuelpumps and injectors r good to about 500 flywheel or 430 rwhp.

Probably best to ask Trick Flow or one of there resellers but best guess is that you should at least upgrade your injectors. And then fuel pump. A tuning program would probably be something to look at first since you are going to upgrade the car in stages it will require multiple retunes.

You will probably want to upgrade the fuel pump and investors. With full boltons with that kit you should be pushing around 450-480 rwhp. I would also recommend not buying that whole kit. The heads are great but you could easily find better cam and valvetrain components

Some mis info above.....First.....an LS1 can easily support 500fwhp just get a good tune....second you will not make 515fwhp unless you have the supporting boltons....third OEM fuel pump is adequate and MOST times the injectors are too. I made 434/400 on a stalled A4 stock fuel system. Just get your tuner to tell you the injector duty cycle and shoot for <80% ideally.
If it were me I would do all the supporting mods before the H/C swap.
I would just buy the heads and get the cam separately.
A4 you will need a stall and M6 put a good clutch in it.
And be realistic and shoot for 500+ fwhp not 500rwhp.....or you will be disappointed

i am trying to keep it simple, i don't know much about the internals so i figured if i could buy a kit with everything i need and its going to work, thats great, but what would you recomend?

Yes a complete kit seems like an attractive way to go however....like these
guys r say'n you can get a much better cam. Do tons of research on here
before buying so you don't have that "damn I wish I knew or I should've
waited feeling"....Trick Flow heads are really nice, 13.5 degree valve angle
small runners (cc vol.), solid castings, but they have bronze valve guides
necessitating full roller rockers which can sometimes interfear w/stock
valvecovers (slight clearancing needed) TotalEngineAirflow sells CNC Trick
Flow castings w/powdered metal guideliners for compatibility w/factory
rocker arms which when upgraded w/trunion kit are a popular choice
cuz they are strong and light @ the valve. Many threads on here have
people getting great flow #'s out of their 241 and 243(ls6) heads either
by CNC or home porting. Their are several great cam companies on here
besides Goliath(CompCams)....Texas Speed, Thunder Racing, or Geoff @
EPS. Look at their sites, give em a call, they'll talk to ya (great people)
This site has everything you need just invest the time to learn what YOU
need to accomplish your goals.........GOOD LUCK !!!!!
