No matter what you do with your exhaust pick up a 35$ manual cutout from summit or jegs. If you don't like the sound of the flowmaster get a different muffler, magnaflow sounds very good.
Hell, you might love the sound and loudness of the cutout and not ever close it. I personally don't but to each their own.
Current setup, even with a converter, won't touch low 11s.

as far as what would sound better, yes you will notice a slight difference with LTs and an ORY..
as far as a muffler. Its all personal preference for sound vs loud.
I run the SLP Loud Mouth 2...
I think it sounds great and it does get a lot of compliments.
being a six speed car, if I want it quiet, i push in the clutch otherwise at WOT, my car is LOUD...
reason why I went with the LM2
-weight reduction (LM2 is a small lightweight bullet style muffler)
-muffler location. (its under the passenger back seat, this allows easy access to the rear end, and suspensions)
-was running a cutout before, too loud, annoying and too many fumes in the car.
Hooker aerochamber sounds good too for a quieter setup.

I'll look at both of them, and check out reviews. I know everyone has told me that FLWmsters are very restrictive for our type of cars.
Either way, Im still going to get a cut out... Want that growl when i go to the TRACK!...

Not all flowmasters are horrible, just depends on if who you are talking to is repeating what they hear or actually know what they are talkig about.
Flowmaster 1 chambers flow and sound amazing.

So does anyone know, for a fact if my 80 series, One Inlet, Two outlet FLWMTRS Muffler was a good or bad choice?
You guys have to remember that i went in to all this not knowing crap about how to go about, adding performance to my car.
Example was the comp cam i first got... think was a 203 duration, almost stock! and i had no clue of it.
The 224 i got now, has great reviews and testimony of a great mild cam... So you got to give me some credit even if my first mod was a shitty 80 series muffler. lol

my first mod on my ls1 camaro was a flowmaster + cutout. I gained 12rwhp with the cutout open. Once cammed I gained a huge headache from the fumes getting into the car from the cutout being under the passenger seat.
both the 40 and 80 series are restrictive (for sound and backpressure)
The baffles on the insides are what creates the well known and great sound that flowmaster has, however they create backpressure too.
Old school thoughts = back pressure is good. With ls based engines, lack of backpresssure is good.. IMO
Pressure is the measure of flow being resisted. In my car, I want air into and out of my engine quickly and easily. this creates debate!!!
SLP LM2 straight un restrictive flow.
hooker aerochamber
GMMG chambered mufflers straight through(expensive)
point is, there are tons of mufflers and tons of first time bad/questionable mods.. all of us have done it...
Does this make flowmaster bad for our cars or a bad mod, hell no. Its just like buying heads, some flow better then others, some compliment LS engines some dont.
flowmaster is great muscle sound, and great power with a cutout.
This week, I will capture a vid with my car at start up, idle, rev and drive by, so you can hear it.

Not your opinion bane.. fact! Keeping velocity up and back pressure down = power. less back pressure causes an illusion of lost power in the low rpms because it pulls harder up top.

Flowmaster 10 muffler sounds incredble with an ORY...I would highly recommend one.
Search flowmaster 10 on youtube, some guy with a white TA has one...just incredible sounding - I put one on my car and it sounds that good, in real life. Yes, it gets raspy over 4500RPMs, but who wants a nice mellow tone up there?
Deep and hollow sounding at low RPMs. Love it.
