Default I'm Planning to take weight off my car, What should I remove?

As the title states I want to remove some weight in my DD 02 TA WS6 M6, What do you guys recommend to have my car lighter without removing the back seats?

Take the back seats out, there over rated anyway. Spare tire and jack is another, a/c is a big one also. Air! EGR! and CATS if you have some race headers and ory to throw on it

unless your going for an all out drag car i wouldnt worry about it, back seats and ac etc, i did that more for looks, and since you wanna keep your back seats i just would forget about cutting weight, honest your not even going to notice lil things what so ever, you could always put the fork down lol

Ok I'm not going too far, It's a DD, I have two kids for a once in a while trip, I' gonna take off The spare tire and jack, a/c, Already took off Air! and CATS, Got Pacesseter Race headers and Ory with FM Merge 3'' to 4'', 4" cutout back to 3 Magnaflow. I dont know about the bumper supports though. I have to check the car for that one. Are the Aftermarket sway bars lighter? nncfan8 that's a good list BTW.

just take your stock sway bars off. you don't need to replace them with anything aftermarket.

Really, What happen If I take both of the sway bars off, will the car be a big difference in running? I tought they where mandatory to run well.

I wouldn't do anything except remove the spare tire and jack on a daily driver. Do not remove sway bars on a daily driver. The car will be unsafe IMO.

Rear bar is mandatory, front is not. If it is more of a drag car, then lose the front bar. Otherwise, I wouldn't sacrifice creature comforts or driveability to drop weight in a daily driver. You will not notice a difference unless you drop a lot of weight.

My TA isn't a daily driver, but I regret any "weight reduction" that wasn't in the form of a substitution (ie: aftermarket exhaust vs stock, lighter wheels vs heavier ones, etc).

My car is just a fun car that sees some spirited driving and occasional racing. It's honestly not worth the inconveniences to ditch certain things in such cases.

*edit*
Here, I'll go one step further and lists some common stuff for you:
Race battery -- saves 30lbs, but needs to be hooked up to a battery tender in the winters or the car won't start.
Ditching AC -- saves 45lbs, but you won't have air conditioning when sitting in traffic during the summers. Maybe you won't care, but the lady/kids might.
Front swaybar -- 10-15lbs, but your car won't handle as well in curves.
ABS -- 10lbs, but is removing it worth the insurance deductible you could face (worst case)?
Bumper supports -- 20lbs, self explanatory.

It's all a trade off, and in a DD, one that you have to think about carefully. Removing all of the following will save you maybe 00.10 seconds off your ET. Which do you think you'll notice more?

My factory carpet was 38lbs when I pulled it out. You can find aftermarket versions without the backing that will save some weight. I also ditched my door speakers since the rears are plenty loud. If this car sees some family time, I wouldn't suggest yanking the safety bars and air conditioning. Ditching the front swaybar also gives it an annoying, floaty feeling.

-Lightweight carpet
-Speakers (front or rear)
-Fiberglass/Carbon Fiber hood
-Lighter seats
-Tubular suspension
-Lightweight wheels (Welds, Magnesium 'vettes, ect)
-EGR/AIR
-Sound deadener beneath hatch carpet
-Washer reservoir
-Aluminum driveshaft

Those are things you can do that won't really negatively affect the friendliness of the car. Some things you'll do and kick yourself in the *** for it, but these are all livable options. You already saved a decent amount by going with the full exhaust.

the backseats can be easily removed and reinstalled (only one bolt per bottom and two bolts for the back piece) for track days FWIW. well 4 bolts on the back piece now that i think about it.... will have to unbolt seatbelt guides from the seat

You could just do what GM does with their new camaro. Add weight, or in your case leave it alone, and compensate by adding more power.

Lose the 50lbs. hanging over your belt. ok j/k. but seriously....when I used to track my motorcycle people would always wonder about how to get their times down on the track and spend so much money on different mods for their bike when they could just do some crunches and lose the gut. Of course...easier said than done.
