Default pronunciation?

nitto tires...... how do you say it ??

like NEAT-OWE ? or like KNIT-OWE??

i always say it the second way mentioned above(knit) but i just saw a nitto tire commercial on speed vision (one of those cheesy ones thats more of a plug for the company than a commercial) where the guy said it like neat-owe...it sounded dumb.

The correct pronunciation is NEE-TOE, although most people say NIT-OH.

The company is a Japanese company, its definitely NEE-TOE, just like Nissan is NEE-SAN.

Tony
You sure about that Tony?

Still, I'd call it a nit-oh or you'll get a strange look here or there.

I wouldn't take some TV personality's pronunciation
for anything. You're lucky if they read the 'prompter
right.

I'm confused on Spohn too. I always called it Spoon (like the utensil), but I hava a funny feeling it is Spoh-n like you mentioned (with a long "O" sound)

So which is it?
Spohn rhyming with: toon, room, zoom?
or
Spohn rhyming with: Phone, comb, knome?
