Default need help choosing shorty headers

ive been wanting to buy shorty headers that wont break the bank but is a decent brand. i live in California so long tubes are not an option I ordered edelbrock shorties but it turned out to be discontinued so I got my full refund. I was looking at bbk but it seems that they don't make shorties for the year of 2000, only 98-99 and 01-02. I was wondering if I could get the 98-99 or 01-02 without any fitment issues. what shorty headers do you guys recommend I get?

Considering edelbrocks are the only smog legal header available I'd find a set of those

yea I really wanted those but they are really hard to find since they are discontinued. I was just thinking about getting the bbk shorties but im not sure if there is a difference between the exhaust manifolds of a 2000 model and a 98-99 or 01-02. idk why they don't make em for the 2000

I have a set of JBAs that I picked up used, they are
nicely built and have the CARB E/O plate on them -
they were the first ones to do so. I recommend them
for tube thickness, nice construction flow-wise. Not
easy to find them used, expensive new, but worth
patience and persistence.

They will fit, I installed 00-02 long tubes on my 99ss the difference is the egr tube placement. So you will either have to delete egr or find a way to extend the tube in order too fit your year.

I don't want long tubes because I live in California so I was going more for the shorties

I would also recommend JBA if you don't have to have them right now. just wait some used ones might pop up.

BBK #4003 for chrome, #40030 for ceramic coated. These headers have an industry leading collector flow area FYI, I did their Long tube setup in chrome, flange is nice and thick and was true straight, went on w/o a hitch except my stands werent tall enough. I also did the Offroad Y, sounds amazing. For your setup these shorties have all the AIR and EGR provisions and are legal throughout the US. Will bolt right up and right to your factory Y. Only problem i see you having is if you can get your cats to unbolt w/o breaking the studs off. All 3 studs on both collectors broke on mine during dissassembly and that was after penetrating lube =/

P.S. these types of things you dont skimp and go cheap, as you get what you pay for and this isnt exactly something you'll wanna do every 3 years with ebay quality trash.
Do your spark plugs while your at it, youll thank me later for that advice.

I've heard of quite afew guys on the c5 forums claim theyre running longutbes in cali.. said you just have to get it tuned right and miss out some power but still alot better than shorties. Personally I got the BBK shorties and plan on having a muffler shop replace that cats with straight pipes (I live in FL) to save $$. But if you have the dough look into it, probably worth it.

I have a pair of the edelbrock shorties on my 02 z28. What are they worth? I plan on swapping them for long tubes at a later date.

Putting shorty headers on your ls car is a waste of time go long tubes or just keep it stock man you are gonna waste time and money with shorties.
