Wrinkles in quarter panel???
As I was washing my 99 Z, I noticed some little dents in the rear quarter panel area. They are on the passenger side above the wheel. My car has 78000 miles and I installed sfc's last summer. Could they be torque wrinkles? I hope not. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yep.. Body flex and the quarter panels are the first thing to get the little dimples.
First mod for our cars is definitely a set of subframes before you have the chance to do any damage.

Sfcs.. few 1/4 passes on slicks on mine. No ripples. I had this problem with my lt1 3-4 yers ago, and I learned my lesson Best thing you can do to the car is put them on there new. It probably wouldn't be worth it to pay to have them fixed.. I'd just leave it be.
Sorry to hear the bad news,

Yeah, I've got the same thing on my '98 Z28 with about 83,000 miles on it. I don't have SFCs (yet), they don't really bother me, just another character quirk or my car (like the scuff mark on the back bumper, damn people and their lack of stick shift driving ability!!!)

Me Too ...
I got 'em too. Before I installed my aftermarket P/H rod and LCA's, I put my car up on ramps and noticed that the stock P/H rod was completely bent on the driver's side and the passenger side had two inmpressions that look as though someone tapped the right read quarter panel with the sharp edge of a 2 x 4. The dents were about an inch or two apart. I didn't even have my cam, 3.73 gears, or dyno tune. Still driving on street tires, with stock coverter, to this day. It still puzzles me how I got the 'wrinkles' and bent the P/H rod. Does anyone think I should try to claim it as a warranty issue? It goes out of GM Major Guard warranty in September of this year.

I didn't get them on my oldd A4 but I have 4 or 5 dimples on each side. Dumping the clutch is no bueno! I know have Kenny Bell frame stiffner and a frame brace. I notice that T-Top cars are more suseptable to the dimples. My first ride was a hard top with are stronger. Good luck. I know it sucks because I get mad everytime I wash my car.

Damn, I read this thread a few days ago and thought mine wouldn't have that problem yet because it only has 20k miles on it. I was getting nitto's put on my car today and when they jacked it up, the sunlight hit it just right for me to notice a little one about the size of a dime right above the passenger side rear tire.

No dimples in mine yet, but the paint checked on the edges of the passenger rear quarter, all the way round the edge, even by the door. The dealer I bought the car form said it wasn't rust or corrosion, so it's not their problem. I am still trying on it, with another dealer. I think that GM never really solved their silver paint probelms. I am also the original owner, and it has never been in an accident or hit, and I have inspected the inner fenderwell, looks factory. Really odd, anyone else have this probelm, and if so, what was the cause? I assume sanding doen to primer and respraying is the only solution......

I was actually looking for an m6 and I found a 99 black car which seems to be very tight. So i bought it with a 36 month warranty. Hopefully I did ok. It has the ground effects and gu6 option. Motor seems clean.

Yes the most common cause of this is body flex, something SFC's will take care of for the most part. I have been reading that extensive wheel hop (axle hop) causes this too.....And you know how the F-bodies are with wheel hop

I have them on mine driver side rear. They appeared well after I installed SLP SFC's which are welded in. I think it's from multiple track runs (120 and counting) causing this from launching. It's an 98 A4 that is rock tight with no interior creaks or rattles.
