Although I am by no means new to the site, I thought this would be the apporpriate forum for this question. Just more or less wondering if this is true for everyone. I've always noticed that with my car first gear isn't really all that impressive. Most times when I race I usually hold even with cars in first, and then really pull once in get into second and third. Even when I'm just driving aggressively, my SOTP meter says that the car pulls much harder in second and third than in first. I've got the stock 3.42 gears btw.

i'm going w/ 4.10's i know.. they do well at the track.. i know a vette and z28 owner that are both very happy w/ them.
as far as strongest gear.. for 3.42's i'd definately say 3rd.. i've heard it changes to 4th gear being strongest after a 4.10 gear swap.

If you think your first is weak, do this
Keep it in first gear, and just slowly accelerate up to like 25 or 30. Then jab the gas real quick after you let off. I sometimes do that just to play around, but man it feels so violent

With the stock cam 4.10's are the best for the track. I have 4.33's in my car and they are a blast on the street. Did not work well at the track with a 26" tire going thru the lights at 6300+ I could not trap any better than 110.
