Default those with 4.10's?

do you guys feel a vibration at high speed. going about 80+ mph. i ask because ive been having this problem since the 4.10's wre installed and want to find out if it can be something else. ive had my tires balanced and had a alignment done. can the driveshaft not be joining the gears/yoke properly causing the problem?

thanks in advance

I know I have an LT1...but mine was vibrating and humming at about that speed...it was the driveshaft...check it out.

I also vote for a driveshaft/or tire balance problem.

ive had the tires balanced over and over agian so it shouldnt be the tires.

what did you do to your driveshaft.? did it fix the problem?

If you are sure it is not a tire balance problem, as mentioned check DS balance and make sure the DS/ pinion angle does not deviate to far from stock.

Most cars have a stock pinion angle in the range of +1-+3 degrees, if you have a level you can check this very easy, most replacement TQ arms come with this, but getting back to basics, if there was no vibration before your gear swap, there shouldn't be after.

I have a Moser 12 Bolt in my 99 Z28 and don't have the issue, but my 94 Z28 did at 75-80 mph. I'm betting it's the tail shaft from the tranny. I thought it must of been my drive shaft, took it in & it was well within tolerance. I sold the car before I nailed it down, but if it was infront of the drive shaft what else could it be?... well before the 4.10's i bent my right rear axle and had that fixed and the same time the 4.10's were installed. i felt a bad vibratoin after the new install of axle and gear and rotated the DS 180 degrees and it went away.

well one thing i forgot to mention is the other day i got my alignment done and they guys at the shop noticed my right front tire had a little bubble on the outside wall. can this be causong the vibration also.?

thanks for the help

your gears might not have been isntalled correctly, lift your back end up and spin one of the tires, if you hear a clicking noise comming from your rear-end then they werent installed correctly

As far as I know most LS1's have aluminum drive shafts. I think I heard that some have a steel one but not alot. The aftermarket aluminum one's are just stronger is all. -Fred

i think mines was changed to an aluminum one. nosure. how can i tell which i have? a couple of years ago i boke the DS and yoke and the dealer said they replaced it with a better/ bigger yoke and i think aluminium DS. this prob didnt accure until i hit the rear axcel though. but then agian i did get the axle fixed at the same time the 4.10's were put in.

from what i hear around hear in the bay area the spot i took it to0 is a reputiable shop. there called ' rearend specialties' in i beleive Santa Clara..

whats cheaper and which would benefit me. track runs 1 or twice a season but street/freeeway runs when they come.

thanks
