Default Breaking the tires loose

O.K, was on the mach 1 site (before I decided I wanted a ws6) and was chatting about breaking the tires loose. Everyone thought I was on crack b/c I said if I am driving at about 3000 RPM's in second and nail it (in my 95 GT with small bolt ons and 3:73 and good tires) I would break the tires loose and go a little sideways.

I was reading the other thread about an LT1 burning them from a stop, so I thought I would write this. Going around corners (right or left) in second gear she'll break em hella loose and go sideways back and fourth.

Now my question, can an ls1 break em loose as I have mentioned above by dropping the hammer? I certainly hope so. Let me know,

Thx

Ryan

O.K, from a stop, I would hope you could obliterate the hides. How bout a second gear punch?

I guess it would depend on if you hit it while in second, or dropped it. I could drop it into second and spin, but thats stupid and bad for the tranny and rear so I dont. As for a true 'seonc gear punch', I highly doubt it....your gt must had shitty tires on it man.

Dude, the hard part is NOT obliterating the rear tires!
When I first got mine, little over three years ago, the first time I tried to fishtail in a parking lot to see what it'd do having never driven a "real" car before (with the chance to drive it how i wanted ), guess what happened?? I made a HUUUUUUGE cloud of smoke as I sat practically motionless facing the other direction after spinning about 180* THe first two summers I had my car, I went though the rear pair of BFG G-Force KDW's in less than 4,000 miles! They hae treadware rating of 300 and I was basically stock. I got better though, my nittos (treadware rating 100) have 8,xxx miles on them since march '03 and are sitll going strong. I wore the BFG's down to the F-ing cords too.

Hard to win races spinning tires.
But yes the LS1 is capable of shreeding street tires in 1'st & 2nd.

Yes, it is hard to win races spinning tires.........but who said anything about racing? There is more to these cars than just racing, after all.

w/ cam and bolt ons 1st through 3rd i could burn up. with the new setup im hoping to add 4th to the line up

an stock ls1 is making a ton more power then your 95gt w/ bolt ons so its obvious that one can infer an ls1 in any form can roast the tires.

My car will break loose when cruising in fourth and I punch it. Not necessarily a good thing--sucks for racing, need some 555's.

I am still stock, so i dont know the feeling of spinning through 3rd yet guys. Winter project is juice and full exhaust install, so I will be getting there soon.

I don't think that really counts. I can do the same thing with the right situation. When you are cruising in fourth and punch it what gear do you go to? It is possible to 'cruise in fourth', punch it, and hit first gear. Even on 555R's, there is no guarantee you won't spin

Edi: In case you didn't notice, he has an A4 with a 4k stall

As for roasting the hides, someone said owning an LS1 type car isn't all about racing, breaking the tires loose from a roll and going fish taily is got to be the best feeling in the world. I still can't believe that some of you are saying you can't spin them from a stomp in second gear, I have to go and test drive one and see for myself.

Not everyone like to be rough on there car at every stopsign to stop light, sure if feels good somtimes, but what are you accomplishing? Girls love the going fast and the nice cars, but most girls look at it is immature and that making up for somthing elsewhere by showing off.. Yes it can be an adrenialin rush but its pointless.

Id much rather cruise by doin about 10-15mph with my car loping like a SOB and sounding badass and get stares, not tryin show off and look like a immature dummy..

If I drop in above 2000, powershift first and nail the 2-3 I can keep spinning into third. I did that when I was showing the car to an old friend that I hadn't seen in awhile and it caused one of the longest streams of obscenities i'd ever heard him emit.

!!!! When power shifting, I have to leave about a 1/4 throttle left as soon as I hit 2nd to avoid hitting the rev limiter from tire spin ... This is on street tires of course.

I cant spin my tires in any gear. I can only do it if I drop the clutch in 1st, or turn HARD in 1st.

hate to say it but my car sticks like glue most of the time with the dr's on it. with stock tires i could go through 2nd gear no problem, but to me it wasn't fun. I like to actually leave traffic behind me when i get on it!!!
