Default Red Door Lights

After riding in a friend's Trans Am, I noticed he had two little red lights above the door handle on each door. I have never noticed these on my car, so I went to look and I do in fact have the lights.... HOWEVER they do not come on when I turn my lights on or anything else ... is there a button or feature you have to have on in order to make this work?

All other interior lights seems to be fuctioning properly.. wtf is wrong

PLEASE HELP!

Just went to the garage to see what's up with mine.
I do have those one on each side (never noticed them) and if they are lights as you said they do not work on my car either.
Interesting.
I'll check back later on to see what others saying about these "lights".

Default lights

There is lights above the switches on the doors. They are red on the trans ams and white on the camaros. You can get new bulbs at your local gm dealer. hope this helps.

It runs off of the dimmer on the dash. I like my dash to be set on a rather low light, so they really don't make a difference on my door panels. But in any regard, that's one thing to look for.

Take your door pannel off and you will see the wires and were the little bulb goes. I blew mine on the passenger side when I was changing out the window motor. Maybe this happened to you. Anyways a very easy fix, just try to be careful you don't break the door pannel clips.

Anybody got a part or bulb number for these little red lights

I called the dealer and tried to order them, but he could not find any bulbs or anything on the driver or passenger door... he thought I did not know what I was talking about

Any help is greatly appreciated!

when i had my 96 TA, i had to replace the window motor...and when i was putting the door panel back on, i noticed the little bulb and wire just hanging around. and since i never noticed the red light before, i just attributed it to one of those 'extra parts you dont really need' that you always seem to have after fixing something. but i do notice them on my 99 Formula.
