mods needed to beat a 03+ Cobra
I am planning on racing stock 03 cobra convertible. The guy just got the car and is a 6 speed i think. We will be going from a roll probably.
I have a set of Hooker LTs w/ ORY waitning to be put on. Rest of mods are in sig.
Im debating to get 4:10s or intake or just save up for both.

If he's 100% stock you will need about another 20-30rwhp to ensure victory. I recommend headers (which you already have), the 4.10's you were going to get, and a custom tune. However if he is modded at all (pulley, intake, exhaust), you will need some major mods to keep up.

I would say you have a good chance to win. But, there is allot you could do to insure a win. One idea is nitrous.
If you race him please let us know and post it in the street racing section.

Bone stock '03s usually put down about 340-370whp, but a Lightning pulley and cat-back will put them over 400rwhp. A friend of mine weighed his coupe, and it was 3700+ lbs without him in it. I'd guess a vert to weight around 3900lbs. Bone stock they'll (coupes) usually run mid 13s and trap about 110 with a decent driver, and yes, the IRS is a PITA to launch with.
Go with headers, lid, exhaust, and some DRs. You'll own him. For extra embarassment, spray a 75 shot and treat him like a Civic

I wouldnt be so sure. Two of my friends have them, one dynoed bone stock 367rwhp and around 400rwtq the other one has chip, pulley, and exhaust 468rwhp 508rwtq. your best bet is from a dig the IRS sucks ***. On the highway it will make you its bitch.
Put it this way, I wouldn't money on it unless its stock from a dig.

ws.6kid - you have enough to win if you go from a dig. Don't go from a 50mph roll. That's the sweet spot in 2nd for the Cobra. I suggest going from a 15mph roll. He'll fry the tires unless he knows how to drive.

With LT's and y-pipe added, you should have no problem, even from a roll. I hung with my buddy's new '03 from approx 45mph roll with intake, lt's, exhaust. One thing that's going for you (especially from a dig) is low-end torque. It seems to me (from looking at stock and modded '03+ Cobra dyno graphs) that they can put out nice peak hp numbers, but take a little while to get there.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, if I were you.

365-380rwhp is the norm. Some are as high as 390rwhp stock.
My coupe weighs 3,600lbs. No weight reduction except !jack/spare.
High 12's @ 110-112mph bone stock with a good driver. Low 13's at 109mph with a capable driver.
No, it's not. Drag radials = 1.6x 60's for a good driver.

i raced an 03 here in are local town.
he had shifter and exhaust.
i had lid y-pipe exhaust moser 12 bolt 373 gears
pro 5.0 shiter and drage radials which did no good dropped form high rpm like a dummy on street
but we literlly where bumper on bumper it would of had to of been a photo finish
if i would of not spun out of the hole the whole first and second gear i think it would of been a differnt sorty.

A good friend of mine owns a dyno, and I know quite a few of the '03 Cobra owners around my area who have dynoed there. I said usually in my statement, not all of them.
3700lbs is what my buddy's car weighed on a tractor-trailer scale when a group of us went to weigh our cars for race weights.
We can go back and forth arguing all day. I've seen what I've seen, and you've seen what you've seen. I was telling him my experiences with '03 Cobras.

from a stop- against a shitty driver of a stock 03 cobra- well look at the mods in my sig. i TOASTED him by about 2 cars in the 1/4 mile. he spun alot and shifted shitty. i launched awesome and shifted perfect (a4, what do you expect ). this was on the street with nitto nt555r's on my car btw and him on stock tires (not sure which..)
on the track it would be a different story or if he had good sticky tires but i messed his ego up good. not saying you can/will beat an 03 cobra running 13.00's but it comes down to the driver A LOT in those cars. if he can't drive and you are 13.0 or faster i say you have him (in the 1/4, eventually he'll catch your *** and pass you).

Lots of people talk on how a stock o3 cobra can pull the wheels. I say if an f-body had a super charger and the same wheel base we would pull them higher. But I still wouldnt mind owning an o3
