Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
Rates fluctuate with region. My insurance is $198 per month and I'm almost 27years old. Your rates are going to go through the roof!
Your parents are nuts for even letting you consider owning an LS1.

An LS1 car? At 16?!?!?! Bring some Blue Gel to the insurance agent when you go for the quote. You'll need it to ease the burning sensation after they bend you over and...well you get the idea.
I live just outside of Chicago. I'm in my mid-twenties, I'm married, I have a multi-car discount and a multi-line discount for multiple policies, and I've got full coverage. I have an excellent driving record. I pay about $85 a month with State Farm for my 2000 WS6.

Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
i got my 98 z when i was 16.5....i had it insured under my dad, and it was like 900 and somethin per year...i was a very responsible driver, still havent ever had a street race to this day, and im 18 now, and have never been pulled over in my life in any car...its a big responsibility, but my dad trusted me, and i knew i couldnt f up at that age so i drove and still do drive like a grandma on the street except for the occasional burnout and going through the first 2 gears, but beyond that, im very civil in the car, but if u have your own policy, you are talkin at least 4k a year i would bet...especially if u have ever gotten a ticket or anything...good luck man.
ps...for all you guys that think just cause your 16 that you are gonna drive like a buffon, i think that isnt a very fair statement...generally true, but i think every case needs to be looked at at an individual basis...just because u drove like a *donkey* at that age doesnt mean everyone else will...

Worst drivers are almost always soccer moms in SUVs and old people. Insurance should be the most for them, IMO.

It all really depends on if its in your name or not. I got mine when I was 17 and full coverage in was $375 a month, liability was $225 a month. Every insurance is different and it also depends on your parents record.

LS1 Brent, I don't mean to be an ***...but a LS1 powered vehicle isn't a very good choice for a 16 year old. Shoot, I almost killed myself in my '86 TA with a measly 305 in it. Talk about a turd.

I had over 18 issued point before I was 18,meaning just in lawers I spent over $5000. But they saved my *** then and even now. best to get a $50 beater and be primary driver on that but drive the LS1 around!

Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
Just be CAREFUL!!! i got my 99 z28 M6 when i turned 17. I used to drive it around and do a lot of stupid ****. 3 speeding tickets later and an insane insurance bill, i have finally slowed down. Im lucky i didnt kill myself when i first got it. Ive put it up on a curb twice with minor damage. Just be safe and use your head. these cars WILL get away from you.

I was always pre-occupied with friends or the stereo. I was just way too inexperienced.
The last thing society needs is another yound kid driving a beast. Being that you're a member of this site, you'd probably do all the free mods and some others as well. A 350rwhp car at 16 years old can get out of hand.
Let me say this though. I had a buddy in high school who had a low 12 second Formula and he hasn't had a ticket or an accident to this day.

Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
You gotta pay to play. If you want an LS1, you are just gonna have to sack up and pay for the insurance. If the high cost of insurance is a deal breaker, you might just want to wait a couple of years.
Besides, do you really want to sink all of that money into a car, only cover it with liability, and have some underinsured bone head total your ride and leave you with nothing???

Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
Im only a senior in high school But I drive VERY responsibly...I have a 2002 35th Anniversary SS,
that'll be pushing 500+RWHP with MTI's Head and Cam package and 100 shot(March 10th). I have all the bolt ons with Micket T's. I dont like to street race often, and I hate it when other people drive irresponsibly putting other lives on the line..I also own an H2
But, my very first car was an 1990 Eclipse with no Power Options and no air conditioner, and I didnt mind as long is it worked. Not all young adults drive irresponsibly bc I appreciate what I have and thats the way I was raised..

Re: insurance for a 16 year old.
I'm also a senior in high school...will probably have enough money by graduation to do forged internals... I put the insurance under my dads name, and hes pretty old, so it comes out to 70 a month....
Hope the insurance company never wants to come check out the car...
I also have never been in a wreck with it....and no tickets on the record...one ticket with the car ever was an 85 in a 50, and that is off my record...
