Default Warranty Length

I got my WS6 a couple weeks ago and i'm the fourth owner. it has 17,347miles right now and its a 2002. Do I still have a warranty?

I ask because i just started hearing a horrible metallic rattling noise that increases with rpms up until about 2000 or so. This is with the car in neutral. the noise happens at idle and up to about 2000 rpms but not under load.
Is my transmission going bad ? The car feels fine, exactly as it used to but this noise just started.

Very worried, please advise

Warranty is three years from the original date of purchase. It's possible the car was purchased in mid to late '02 but chances are the warranty is close to being done if not already passed. If you call a Pontiac dealer and give them your VIN they should be able to tell you when the warranty expires. Either that or run a carfax and see when it was first registered.

Thanks alot. They should have a mile warranty on drivetrain instead of time, If my car turns out to have problems then I'm screwed and its only got 17k on it.

Thanks though.

I'd think if you called a dealership with the VIN they would be able to tell you if it was covered.

Its 36,000 + the milage on the car when bought new - or three years from date of purchase, which ever comes first.

My car had 20 miles on it new at the dealership, my warranty will run out at 36,020 miles, or May 17 of this year. Since I've only got 25k on the clock May 17 will deff. be my cut off day (then I can put my cam in).

BTW, my car came off the final line (ASC Global) 3 years ago today.

Check the o2 sensors, it could be coming from them. Yeah just find out what date the first owner purchased the car. I'm kinda lucky mine is still good until mid july...

Well, I called them up and my warranty has expired. Ive gotten underneatht the car while running to pinpoint the noise and its definitely coming from the left bank of cats. It was loud as hell but after some hard driving the sound has gone away, still the SES light though, oh well at least it just the cats.

Thanks for the help

The warranty on the cats is 8 years/80,000 miles.
