Default lets talk lid fitment

Anyone else have a lid that doesn't fit the trey absolutely perfectly? At the front corners I got about a 3/32" gap on each corner. Will this hurt performance? I really doubt it, but I wanted to hear from others, any of you guys lids fit like this? Im **** about my car and this being my first mod, I don't want any hack ****. Who all makes clear lids btw?

clear lids? MTI

As for fitment issues.. that will NOT make you lose any horse. I have the FIPK and that is NOT ENCLOSED AT ALL. I flow very well also.

Now, that being said.. I just purchased the TSP lid lol

Texas Speed and Performance (TSP) sells clear lids. They fit perfectly. I have no issues with mine whatsoever. As long as your lid clamps/ seals tightly the you have nothing to worry about. A K&N does not give any real diffrence vs a paper filter on LS1's. But you can pick a used one up in the for sale section pretty cheaply.

dude if the cracks are between the lid and the airbox then the air getting in through the crack is not going through the filter. so dirt bugs etc. is going straight into the motor or into the maf screen if it is still there . I had the same problem on mine because the filter (k&n) kept the lid from comming all the way down (SLP lid)
hope this helps take some pics of it and post them so we can see why it won't fit. somtimes you have to trim the bellows

When I was using my lid, I used some adhesive backed foam that they sell at home depot/ Lowes for a couple bucks. I put it all the way around where the lid makes contact with the rim of the filter – it guaranteed no unfiltered air going in.

Is this a good fit? It seems to be alright but there is the gap on the edges. The gap will close if I push down on the lid very hard. The tabs on the lid are in the slots but you cant see that in the pics.

I am fet up with slp, because i've bought the lid, smooth bellows, cold air kit ,and loud mouth cat back and the only one that works and fit's great is the loud mouth and the cold air but MY SLP AIR LID does'nt stay on worth a crap so i had to remove the seal on the front of my air box tray so my lid is'nt blowed off every time i get on the interstate.also i have used the famous high speed duct tape around the back of my air lid so the gaps like you have dont let any air in and destroy my motor.

Let's face it, that's a crappy fit but it's not like it's going to suck in a dirt clod and ruin your motor. In my experience, TSP lid=perfect fit.
