Default What to spend 10k on 01 ws6

My friend is selling his m3 and getting a ws6, and he is looking to build up the suspension and engine, what would you guys suggest to do with a budget of roughly 10k, also keep in mind this will have to pass cali smog, and handle like its on rails.

supercharger, beefed up tranny(if it's an a4), 12 bolt rear. that should take up $10 g's. suspension will have to wait!!

he could donate a few bucks this way!! lol jk I dont know what i would spend ten g's on.....but i guess i could take a guess..... lol I'd do the exaughst then the computer tuning then spend the rest consertavly, im tight with my money and i know i always wish i could money at some that i dont have money, so i'd save it and wait a while to get used to the car and spend the money on week points of the car, as in strut bar and subframe connector along with a beefier sway bar and lowering springs. but cograds to him.

Engine + suspension, let's see:

Engine:
408 iron stroker with H/C or turbo kit - ~$5-6k for either

Suspension:
SFC's - ~$300
LCA's - ~$200
Lowering Springs - ~$200
Torque Arm - ~$400
Shocks - ~$250
Sway Bars - ~$450
PHR's - $175

That put's it at about $7-8k.

I would maybe do a beefed up tranny or a 12 bolt with the last $2k.

And if he doesn't already have the basics (exhaust, intake, etc.) then do that first.

Oh and don't forget tires.

why?
with a stock bottom end he will never see anywher near the amount of boost a TT set up will deliver, and what left over cash?
you got any idea what kind of cash it take to get a TT set up

a. tuned in
b. supported fuel and saftey wise?
c. the installation (custom fabbing, cutting ect ect ect...)

by the time all was said and done the TT setup all by itself might cost more then 10k....

another poor answer....

1. whos stage 3?
2. do you know what stage 3 even means? (since its differant for alot of head porters)
3. MOST stage 3 heads are BIG port, BIG valve, heads suited for BIG displacement motors..... not stock 346's
4. a TREX cam is a max effort cam for STOCK heads....
5. the power a GOOD H/C set up will make would twist the aluminum DS like a straw on slicks....
6. you have no clutch in your set up.... bu by stock clutch first time it hooks.
7. so you what you were TRYING to make was a max effort H/C but then you want him to spray on top of that.... and no fuel upgrades huh? i dont see that motor lasting long...

look , i'm not trying to bash you here... but if someone is seriouse about slapping 10k into a set up and they go the wronge way... they can blow 10k and have only a blown motor, drivetrain, chassis..ect ect ect... to show for it...

this one wasn't bad but you WAY underestimated the cost of your first items..

408 all by itself 4k+
proper H/C for a 408 3000ish

chances are he dont have the resouces to install a motor(could be wronge but most dont)
500-1000 there... depending on who he gets to do it

and with that much power the drive train should NEVER be an after thought...

think about your car like your body.... do you just go out and run a marathon?
or do you have to build your body to take the punishment first?

same goes for your car.... build it to handle the power first... then give it the power..

all depends on what he's final goals and overall application are.

i agree with jaberwaki 100%,w/o a tangible plan you'll end up wasting more money. plus if he want to stay 100% smog legal most of these avenues people are stating wont help him one bit.

and 10k doesnt go as far as you think.

yes, but that means only carb approved boost; P1, one from vortech, and STS. those are the ones that i know of.

personally i'd drop all my coin on suspension, brakes, chassis, and rear end.

Check MTI's site. Head / Cam / Exhaust package for 450hp or something like that. Total stealth and reliablility.
