Default What do You Pay?

O.K i just made a total dumbass mistake of selling my car (sold it at a very good price though, 6k for a cavalier worth 4k). To buy an ls1 T/A. This was a spur of the moment sell cuz it was from a friend but i went to this small lot and they had a 98 ls1 T/A with 38k miles for 8 grand. My dad was very against me getting it cuz he thought it was a scam. (does it sound like one to you?). I did find one though at a real pontiac dealership which is an 01 T/A for 12k. However i find out that i can get the car for 285 a month but when i look at my insurance they want $580 a month!!! Im 18 years old and i have no one to help me buy a car, ive bought both my cars in the past, but im tired of driving 4 bangers and i love ls1 cars. (i fell in love with em when i drove my friends ls1 camaro). I also have no wrecks or tickets. I wanted to know what you guys pay for insurance on your ls1 rides. Im scarred im gonna be stuck buying some beater car

$77/month for my 2001 WS6, full coverage, $500 deductible.

But I'm 27 yrs old, accident free, get good multicar discount, and my "normal driving purpose" is still set to "to and from work and/or school and no more then 30 miles/week" for some reason.

I have a 2000 SS and I am 22 and i pay about 180 a month for insurance. I have one wreck about 4 years ago with no tickets. Try different companies... I think geico wanted 3000 for 6 months for me. I stayed with my current company and it is like 1000 for 6 months.

damn it sounds like you guys get good deals. cheapest one i could find in my area is progressive @ 540. The insurance agent said its because of were i live and plus its a "Race car". They said 30% of drivers in my area are uninsured so that makes payments high and my being young dosent help either. I understand the uninsured driver thing cuz ive been passenger of 2 accidents and both times the other driver tried to bail out cuz they had no insurance. I didnt think it made that much of a diff in payment though. damnit its like im gonna end up buying some early 90's ricer or somin.

Being in a location with a high rate of uninsured drivers makes premiums higher...it sucks. I'm military so I go through USAA for insurance. I'm 26, wife is 29. We pay $103 for the '01 Z28 and an '04 Impala SS. That's full coverage on both with $500 deductables. From what I understand New Mexico has a high rate of uninsured drivers. We were stationed here before in '98-'99, and when we got reassigned our insurance went down about $30 a month or so.

Maybe you could use your 6k and try to get a personal loan from the bank for the difference, That way you could just get liability. Just don't tell the bank it's for a car. BTW get a carfax for that 98 and check it out real good. Might just be a great deal. Set your mind to it and get the car you want. Good luck!

$190 a month, full coverage with State Farm. I have 1 ticket and one accident...both 2 years ago. I'm in the process of buying a Silverado and I'm going to have the Silverado as my main vehicle and put the Camaro as secondary so it would be cheaper. Plus the more cars you got, the cheaper it is.

Im 22, almost 23 (in one week), I pay 160 mnth with $250 deductibles, and I have really high coverage. I would rather have people go after my insurance than anything I own or myself, so I made sure my insurance was really high to make it a target rather than me....
