Question 2001 camaro ss bolt-ons

ok so hears the deal. I plan on buying a 2001 camaro ss, with hopefully about 30k-40k miles on it. I want to be able to get about 400rwhp at least with some a few bolts ons. Any suggestions on some bolts on. I was thinking about maybe adding a supercharger at some point. but any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

You'll need a cam to get 400rwhp ... all the bolt ons will get you to about 350-360 tops ... then you'll need a moderately sized cam to get you to your goal.

I have 330 338 with mods in sig. I would follow these guys and say that ls6 cam and valve springs would get you close. Along with a Good tune..underdrive pulley and definately a y pipe! i am almost modded out all i have left is MAF and TB

well basically i want to be able to beat a 03-04 cobra after i'm done. I know that they have some serious power after they add a few bolts ons. If it does come down to it after i add a few mods and a cobra can stil beat me with there super, then i'll throw a vortech on mine with an aftercooler.

You're gonna need more than a MAF and TB to finish. You're missing LT headers and y-pipe and LS6 intake. Also, I wouldn't consider the flowmaster a bolt-on as it probably make less power than the stock exhaust. Throw an SLP dual/dual or Hooker on that sucker and you'd be better off.

Also, don't touch the MAF. In fact, since you have HPTuners, you can buy a wideband o2 with the money you'd spend on an 85mm MAF and run a speed density tune. I know first hand messing the MAF is gonna cause you nothing but trouble.

To respond to the initial post, 400 rwhp is not attainable with just bolt ons. If it's an A4, you won't even hit that mark with all bolt-ons and a medium sized cam. I'd stop using hp to determine how fast your car is. IMHO, the only thing a dyno number is good for is as a benchmark to determine how much you've actually gained after mods.

I have a ypipe, and i cant put long tubes cause of emissions, the slowmaster came on the car so its dough i dont have to spend. i was making a point that try to knock out the cam tune and intake before the small knick knack stuff

I'm faster than a stock 03/04 Cobra at the track. My main mods are a 224XER Cam, Headers, and a cutout. Just watch out for the 03/04 Cobra that have an aftermarket blower (like a Kenne Bell). Those guys will trap well over 120.

heck, even with just a pulley swap they are 450+ anything non-stock is something to fear.

ok, so what kind of power would be possible if i just add the vortech supercharger? Also is there any other type of pulley available for the vortech besides the stock one. Kinda like options that they have for the 03/04 cobra. Like if u change the pulley and put a smaller 1 on u get an extra 60 hp. Then i could throw on a few bolt-ons followed by the ported heads.

Isn't the 450 though at the fly and not the rear with just the pulley?

Vortech isnt really the big LS1 name blower. try looking at ATI setups. most make id say 450 RWHP ish on a bolton stock internal LS1. i think i dunno help? anyone?

With full bolt ons, light weight flywheel, shaft etc. and a tune you'll get pretty close there is a bolt on 99 m6 here runnig 11.56's w/all stock internals so a fast bolt on is a nice sleeper..no lopey idle

I'm not here to start **** or a GM vs Ford debate, just I own a Cobra and know what it would take to beat one.

You don't need a KB to do that, mine traped 120 consistently with a best of 121 with 487/470 to the wheel, this was when it was just a ported 2.8upper only Eaton. But yeah, if it has an aftermarket blower chances are you're gonna get you *** handed to you but beware of the mighty Eaton cars, some of them are making good numbers (520+rwhp).
i know a guy with an 03 cobra making over 600hp on stock blower.

Bullshit , you're not telling us the whole truth. How much nitrous?
heck, even with just a pulley swap they are 450+ anything non-stock is something to fear.
True, they are good running cars but they are also heavy so at the same rwhp the F-Body would win. It's just harder to make 450rwhp with a N/A LS1 compared to the pulley and a tune approach with the Cobra.

Depends on what Cobra you pull up against. If you find the simple pulley and a tune car then you can get him with around 400-420rwhp. I base this on the fact that I waxed a Z06 from a multiple digs and rolls with my car at 515/500 and the zo6 was making 425 to the wheel with AFR heads, small cam, 3.90s, and exhaust.
