Default Own an Fbody w/out T-tops?

Would anyone buy an Fbody that didn't have t-tops? I'm looking at a 2000 Z28 with 42,000 miles. Has leather and all options for $11,500 at the stealership (started @ $12988). I really enjoyed summers with the tops out but the car is lighter/tighter with the full roof. Should I get it?

I have owned 2 that don't have Ttops. I wish I had them about 2 weeks out of the year. Other than that I don't even notice. But if I lived in LA or FL I'd want them.

My dad hates T-tops, he doesn't want to deal with them. The car is stronger structually without them, it's worth it.

I drive all the time in the fall and spring with the tops off. Still, I would like a hardtop to cut down on the sqeaks and rattles, and they don't leak. Not to mention they look 10,000 times better, the roof looks so much cleaner without the tops. GM could have done a better job making the tops look intergrated into the roof too. The 3rd gen tops and the tops on a 300zx look a lot smoother. Or the best are the metal tops on the old C3 Vettes, its hard to tell they come off.

I would. I never take mine out.....ever. Maybe 2x a year. too much trouble and in the summer here you have to be running the A/C.

I wish I didn't have t-tops. But they aren't as noticable with black car. I have had them off less than 5 times in 5 years. I don't like them the same as I don't like verts.

No t-tops here. I knew I'd never mess with them if I got them, and it's only worth having them for about two weeks a year in Houston.

My car doesn't have t-tops...
I actually wish I had them, but I love my car and I wouldn't trade it for a car with t-tops.

My Formula is a hard top... that's the whole reason I bought it. I wanted a car for bracket racing, so I purposely looked for a hardtop A4 Formula with a cloth interior. I just lucked out and stumbled across a BPM Formula.

For just driving around, I like having a M6 with t-tops and the leather interior... I'm glad that now I have the best of both worlds.

I like my t-tops, and I do take them off quite a bit during the non-winter months, but I'm also pretty tolerable of weather conditions, so too hot and too cold for me are much farther apart than most people.

That being said though, I wasn't specifically looking for t-tops when I got my TA, I was just looking for the best deal on a 6-speed F-bod, Firebird or Camaro, other options not an issue. This happened to be the best deal I found. I would have purchased a hard top Camaro if the price was right. Basically, I like the T-tops, but they weren't a required option. I bought the car primarily for the 6-speed LS1, everything else was just icing on the cake.

I had T-Tops on my previous car (Buick TurboT) I wanted them really badly and ultimately took them out maybe once a year. In that car there was nowhere to put the stupid things and the buffeting from having a small opening in the roof was so annoying I couldn't stand it.

When I bought my SS I went for the convertible and absolutely love it. I will never buy T Tops ever again. I would go hard top before T Tops.

Currently own 2 hardtop (non t-top) cars and I definately prefer them.

Other than somebody asking if you have them and can you take them out, you'll never miss them IMO.

(BTW I've have a number of both)

How old are some of you guys? That may be a reason why some of you don't like t-tops. I'm 22 and I wouldn't own a f-body without them. Me and my buddies love to go cruising with the tops off talking to girls, etc. Then again I'm not a hardcore drag racer either. To each his own but I love them, personally.

I'm 31 now, but my preferences haven't changed since I bought my first hardtop Camaro RS almost 10 years ago.

Keep 'em coming. I can't make up my mind. The car would ultimately be a drag car in a couple of years. May, June, September, and beginning of October are the only months I would be able to take them out. I do love cruising with them out. But they are such a hassle, especially if they've been in the sun for a while.

I'm 30, but have owned the car since I was 24. I don't like t-tops because many I've seen leak (not necessarily f-fodies), I mounted my amps and sub in the trunk and needed the space, and when it's 95+ degrees outside with 100% humidity, t-tops are pretty miserable. There are a few weeks a year where I kind of wish I had them, but not often enough to have made it worth the extra money when I bought the car.
