Ticking noise on low RPMs ?!
I have a ticking noise when a press WOT on 4th, 5th and 6th gear under 1000rpms, when under heavy pressure.
Anyone understands what I mean?
No ticking noise above 1600-1700rpm when the engine starts pulling up to redline...
Is this any problem, or should a pushrod-engine sound like this?

You mean like when the car is moving slow for the gear so flooring it doesnt really do much? I.E. flooring it from 40 MPH in 6th gear? Is the ticking noise definately coming from the motor? In threads like this its required that you specify what car, mods etc. to help

Yepp, flooring it on high gears at low speed i.e. 40mph in 6th gear, or more likely 15-25mph in 4th or 5th.
It's like a ticking noise when the motor is under heavy pressure.
Camaro LS1 1999, heard it easier when it was stock, but now I have exhaust and it's a bit louder.

No, no, no... I have plenty of oil, recently changed. I doesn't hear the noise as clearly now as when I did when running stock (more quiter)
I don't see it as a problem, the noise appears when the engine starts to choke, only when it doesn't have the strength enought to pull on that high gear.
I don't think it's a problem, because I was as fast (stock) as a stock SS.
This is my first pushrod-car, so I'm most likely curious how It's SHOULD be sounding.

i think i know what you're talking about. it's kind of like a chattering, like hitting two small sticks together very quickly. it would always do that on my old 3.4L V6 bird when i just locked up in OD and gave it enough gas to accelerate to the MAXIMUM WITHOUT unlocking. i just always figured it was the pushrods going back and forth really quickly since your engine is pulling hard in such an unnecessarily high year. i'd say it's the rods, completely normal. i'm sure my LS1 does it too, i'll have to try tomorrow.
btw my 3.4L did that from the day i got it @52k miles. it ran great for 30,000 more til i traded it in. i'd say you're listening for anything that can worry you for no reason.

i kind of have a tapping noise as well on first startups of each run and even all the time sometimes at RPM's of idle up to 1700...i just always thought it was normal but it seems a little louder now than two weeks ago so idk...

You're lugging it and it is pinging or detonating in protest.
If you are cruising at 1000RPM in 6th say, drop down a few gears and then stomp on it. If it was an A4 it would kick down by itself for that very reason.

Regardless of what you do you will have some detonation and KR if you floor it in a high gear say 6th at 1K RPM. The ticking however usually comes from a bent pushrod or an exhaust leak. If you have block-off plates check to make sure your bolts are all secure.
You may want to double check your exhaust manifold, EGR, AIR, and make sure you all all bolted down to TQ spec. Then you will have to check internally for the notorious bent pushrod.

i just feel that if you listen hard enough to a car, you can, in your own mind if you're a little paranoid about your car (like i am), you can make up lots of situations where something sounds problematic. i say don't worry about it. treat your car right and if something eventually happens...well, you'd have to fix it anyway so it's a moot point.
