Those times are roughly a mid~low 12-second 1/4 mi. pass in an M6. A decent cam (plus supporting bolt-ons of course) and some sticky tires will be enough to get you there assuming you can drive. Only problem is, an M6 might strain the drivetrain enough to snap a gear in the rear. So, when I say supporting mods...it can really rack up the $$$ if you want to do it right/safe. Also, suspension shouldn't be neglected. Just my $0.02.

If it has to get the same mileage, are you wiling to live with a more drag oriented suspension? The right shocks, springs, stiffer control arms and subframe connectors will work wonders for traction, along with better tires. The problem is a slick works best, but not with your stock rear. I'd say at least a 12-bolt, if not a 9-inch, either with 4.10's and a good limited slip for streetable traction.
Those mods should get you about halfway there. From there, add a lid, headers, and a cut-out. See how close you get without a tune. Depending on your DA at the track, that might do the trick without cracking a valve cover. Tuning would help a bit, but I saved that for last in case you needed a cam to make the extra power to get you there.
If you don't want the drag springs and shocks though, you're gonna need a cam at least.

Minimum mods and fun on the street, get heads with 11 to 1 compression and thunder's racing cheater cam and you want have to buy any headers. This will be a fast street and respectable track car and sound stock. Of course, get decent tires and lightweight wheels for the track. Cheers.

100mph trap speeds in the 1/8th usually mean about 128-130mph traps
in the 1/4. That's mph for 10's. It's going to take you a lot of mods to get there
and it's going to cost you many thousands of dollars to do it.

heh...My friend ran a 8.1 in a 01 Z28..only mods 4k stall and slicks. Hell im pulling 8.5s with a 2.xx 60, with stickier rubber i know i could nail low *** 8s, and with gears prolly 7s. It shouldnt be to hard to get there with bolt ons if you can beat that 6spd like a bitch
