Default 1st oil and filter change in ls-1?

Im getting ready to change the oil in my 01 ss for the first time since ive owned it. The car has had mobile 1 syntec since new. How much oil should i put in a stock ls-1 (thinking 5 since thats what my lt-1 held). What is the best filter to use (thinkin k&n) and what is the oil filter number (my lt-1 used a tg-30). thanks!

it should hold about 5.5 quarts some people put in 6 just because they tend to burn some

for filters people usually recommend ACDelco, Wix, Mobile 1, K&N,

someone can correct me if im wrong but i believe the ACDelco number is PF52

if you want to put mobile oil back in go for the 0W40 people with ls1's tend to like that oil better than the 5W30 or 10W30

German made Castrol Syntec 0W30 is the best oil, that's what I think, as well as many others on here would say.

Stock Ac filter pf46 5.5 quarts.
You can run a pf62 filter a little longer an use all 6 quarts.

Everyones got a different choice.

I use to use the larger capacity K&N # HP2006. I eventually ended up scraping this as my car is low as hell. At normal ride height, or even lowered 1.5" you will have no problems, not even close.

If you want to save a few bucks, and still want a quality oil filter... Look up the right part # for the PureOne filters. I can't remember it for the life of me, but they are great.

It calls for 5.5 quarts. Run 6, there is enough capacity in the pan to actually run more. There's no reason not to run the extra half quart in there...

IMO Amsoil is top dog in the oil biz. I have run Mobil 1 5w40, 10w40, Castrol 5w-30, and the list goes on. I still like the Mobil 10-40, but I'll switch once the shop gets it's Amsoil dealer setup.
