Default Next Mod!

Ok folks, can't decide on what to do next. I'm kind of a novice, figuring things out as i go (plus a little help from a mechanic friend)

I've already gotten the PCM dyno-tuned, added an SLP lid, and the car already has a fairly cheap (but good sounding) catback that sounds pretty good. The car's a 2000 z28, btw. What should I do next? LS6 manifold? Badass cowl hood? (it does look pretty badass!) injectors? wet nitrous kit? something I've never even thought of? Toss me some suggestions!

Do you have a price limit?

What other mods do you have to your car?

Injectors might not be necessary just yet.

More info please

I would get an ls6 intake manifold, get the stock Throttle body ported and some long tube headers.

you tryin to look slick or go fast?

trying to look good? go with some new wheels, rubber and lower it
trying to go fast? get some LTs, ORY, and a cutout before the muffler (for racing or when you simply want to **** off your neighbors.)

are you going for big numbers and low et's than skip the LS6 and go with a FAST 90/90 setup, +1 on the cutout, mine is electric and I love it and no catback except TD's will flow better. I hope you put a better filter with you lid, such as K&N or Holley.

here is a little help try working from the ground up and get all your bolt ons on before working with internals, and if you decide to add the huge power adders you will need to beef up the suspension and the back end.

read this it will save you some headaches, https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/361959-so-you-wanna-fast.html

Yeah, did the K&N filter with the lid. LMz28, already did the wheels and rubber, got chrome Y2K 'vette rims on it right now. I don't think I want to do any big power adders, nothing in the "oh **** i broke my rear end" range...I think the ls6 manifold/ported TB is probably going to be next, but I wanted to hear some opinions...how difficult are headers to do? I've never done them before.

the factory filter would have been fine, no reason to change that. finish off your bolt-ons (headers, ls6 manifold, throttle body like mentioned), maybe do some gears if your a manual, or a stall + shift kit + tranny cooler if your an auto

LT headers, LS6 intake manifold, 25% Underdrive Pulley, 3.73/4.10 Gears, Mickey Thompson ET Streets. Easily in the 12's.

I've decided to do the manifold next...let me know what you think of this thing, it's around the price I want to go for...do any of you guys have any experience with the typhoon thing in the first link? If not, I'm just gonna go with the BBK in the second link. Going to use stock TB with plans to port it later, but one thing at a time

Stay away from the Typhoon. I looked into it and everyone wants to get rid of them in favor of the LS6 intake manifold. Too many fuel leaks with their fuel rails and also trouble sealing to the heads (leaks). It's either an LS6 or a FAST 90/90 if you can swing the cash in my opinion. Also that BBK SSI intake manifold is overpriced. New Era Performance sells them for $399.99 I believe. They're a sponsor --> You won't see any gains over the LS6 intake though so just pick one up used on eBay for $275-$325.

SparkNotes: Typhoon Blows. LS6 or FAST 90/90 F.T.W.

Pacetter long tubes and ory. Ls6 intake wont net you as much HP as the headers, so id wait on it until you start looking for a good cam or heads/cam setup. Same thing with the 25% pulley. Id def do the headers.

I have a 99 z28. I talked to some dudes at thunder racing because i was originally gonna put a cam in, but they talked me out so next week i am putting in an ACC 3000 stall converter and a transgo shift kit... and when i go back to school i am putting some ceramic pacesetters with no egr or a.i.r. on... I have cat back exhaust and the FIPK intake...with a transam style hood... me and a buddy are gonna fab up a box to go around the intake so that cold air doesnt go around it... what next??

If you're an auto then the next mod should definately be a stall and then LT headers.

If you're a manual then the next mod should be LT headers and then 4.10 gears.

If you want to have to buy new rearend then get 4.10's. I will likely go with 3.73's for now and get 4.10's with a new 9-inch down the road.
