450 hp
im a noob. i have a (stock) 2002 silver ws6. i have a pretty conservative goal of 450 hp on motor alone. no power adders.
so in yalls opinion, whats the quickest way to get a stock ls1 to 450hp, without power adders?

There's nothing too conservative about making 450rwhp N/A with a 346cid LS1.
It will cost you many thousands of dollars to do it right.
...OR...you could spend $500 bucks and get there easily with nitrous.

variation of the following mods:
- heads
- an aggressive cam
- intake
- pushrods
- full exhaust
- clutch (if you have a T-56)
- sticky tires to hook 450rwhp
- a 12 bolt or a 9" rear end to hold the 450rwhp with your stick tires
- a good tune (along with some colder plugs)
the new power (such as a stall converter if you have a 4L60E trans).
If you're new to modifying cars or to the LSx platform in general, I suggest
going a lot of homework here and researching each individual topic. There
is a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips...just hit the search button.

I thought the same way. No power adders. $3000 later I unhappily had 375 rwhp. My advise is to soul search exactly why you want 450hp. If you keep your foot off it Superchargers do not affect your gas mileage, and you have the power at all times. If you are looking for track times, or an occasional street race, nirous is great, and our cars can handle quite a lot. An extreme H/C/I package that nets you 450rwhp will be less streetable as well, but it sure will sound nasty!

Is the car a M6 or A4? For 450RWHP i would go with AFR 205s milled to 59cc then give them to Tony Mamo and have him port them, Then fast 90/90 ported by Tony Mamo and a custom cam from Patrick G and a really good exhaust.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. 450 NA on a 346 is definitely not conservative, but it's doable with a high quality (properly chosen) heads/cam/intake setup with all the supporting bolt-ons (full exhaust with long tubes, pulley, etc, etc).
If you can do the work yourself, you'll definitely save a TON of money, but you're still talking many thousands of dollars. A quality set of heads alone with run you $2000-2500 or so.
All that said, it's absolutely doable if you have the money. Start reading up in the stickies.

It can be easily acheived if you have the moola. I wouldn't say that you need a big cam to get there but definitely no a small one. I putting down 414rwhp with bolt ons, stall, and a cam. When I get my afr's I will easily be at or over 450rwhp. My car is very street friendly btw.

wow. i reread all yur posts, and all the related threads that a few of you suggested. thank you. that was very informative. after a little consideration, i think i will readjust my sights. and set a new goal of 400rwhp.
and for starters i think im gonna get a full exhaust.
my buddy and i are kinda competeing now.
im gonna order long tubes, and an x pipe, and some bullet mufflers. do you guys think that a full exhaust would make much of a difference on a stock car?
could u guys suggest some quality brand names?

450 isn't that high of a goal. I think it is perfectly do able. I was making 420 on a cam, with ported 241's and full bolt on's and I DD it.... It was an M6 which will help with DD but it was fine......You could hit 400 with just bolt on's and a cam.....

450 isn't hard to make and it can be very streetable as well. There's people here that are well above that goal. I've seen individuals make 450 with a ls6 intake and stock ported TB on a mild cam. You just have to choose your parts wisely. And the cam doesn't have to be rediculous like an MS3 for instance. Stickies are your friend and pull up every post/thread in relation to your goal. Thats what I've been doing.

Don't change your goal. If you want 450rwhp do it cause its not hard. Like myself an a couple others said with bolt ons and a cam you can get around 420 so with heads you get 450 and up. I run qtp headers with a custom y-pipe and a lm2 exhaust with a borla xr1 bullet muffler.
