I am looking forward to some passes in mine while the weather is still cool. I may have to borrow some slicks for a new PB, bc the Nittos arent gonna get it. I aint chunking them till they are bald though

Well damn, finished the timing cover gasket andx geuss what. Oil pan gasket leaks now.can the pan be dropped enough to reseat the gasket without pulling the motor? Now I need to flush the old coolant out and in with new tmrw then I can drive it again. Son of a... now I need a beer
Btw the pan leaks on the passenger corner of the timing cover, looks like the gasket. Didn't seat well in the groove. Maybe I can flex the rubber into place without pulling the pan? DAMNIT I'M UPSET!

So I use a sc@rewdriver and straighten out the oild pan gasket and put some rtv in the cover wear it meets the block and timing cover. Let it roll outta the garage not wanting to start the car. And let this sit while I wash the car for the first time. I pull the e- brake and POP, the cable or something snaps...just my luck

I didn't know ther was a proper gap, I figured that's what the dowl pins were for. I rtv'd it and it seemes not to leak now or at least not as bad but will work till I can get time to do the oil pan gasket. Now I have to fix the ebrake since its an m6. Plus I think the battery needs replaced. I think I need the vanity plate MNY PIT. Oh well, its fun to work on it, just expensive

The deal is that the factory oil pan gasket is made out of material that becomes brittle with age and if you dont drop the pan a bit when pulling the timing cover back, if will break the gasket up. Did it with my first cam swap and it leaked horribly. You can try rtv but you will most likely not be satisfied until you replace the gaskets. Lt1's are ******** haha

This one is rubber and you can tell its be replaced. I had to replace the balancer bolt with one that would tighten up as the factory bolt kept pulling loose, worried bout that but works for tonight
