Default MSD Window Switch Problem

i bought a MSD window switch for my car, its wired up right but will no ingage the nitrous, its picking up a tach signal and everything, it worked the first night i hooked it up but didnt work ont he dyno, should i send it back or did we do something wrong, it was set to come on a 3,000rpm and shut off at 5,800rpm

I would suggest contacting MSD and verifying it's connected right. Some wierd settings to make for the one I've got. Good luck.

pull it out and replace it with a different unit. Mine would work on the street, but at the track it would have intermitted problems..

I know it sounds like a dumb question, but are you sure the WOT switch was being depressed while on the dyno? Are you running any other accessories such as a fuel pressure safety switch?

nope, i do have a question, does the actual window switch itself have to be grounded, the guy that put it on for me used 2 sided tape and we mounted it on the finder well

kit has full throttle switch, switch to arm the nitrous, that window switch set at 3000 and 5800, bottle heater and the GM stage 1 NX kit

1. is the MSD unit getting power?
if no, check the power/grnd
if yes..
2. is it reading the tach signal correctly? 4/6/ or 8 cyl mode is depending on where you tapped the signal from.
if no, either tap the tach signal from the ecm, or change the msd to a different cylinder setting.
if yes..
3. did you try to set the msd on a lower rpm and WITH THE N2O BOTTLE OFF, see if it will activate the solenoid. You can put a 12v pen light on the noid so you can see when it activates.
if no, go back to #2
if yes...
4. Check that the noid is working by jumping across the MSD -WITH THE BOTTLE CLOSED- and activate the WOT switch (you'll have to jump across the FPSS also)
if no, check the power to the noid and ground. Post up a schematic of your system -exactly like you wired it- and let us look
if yes..
5. At this point, if the MSD is intermittently working, it's either bad connections, or a bad unit. The box doesn't need any special grounding as you asked.. but direct heat is not a good idea. It should be mounted away from hot areas.
