Default Went out to run Real Street (275 radial class) this weekend and got a new best.....

I decided I wanted to try and run real street, so I picked up a set of used 275/60-15 Mickey radials during the week last week and threw them on the car. Went out friday night to test before the race on saturday and with the help of some awesome racers from yellow bullet we got the suspension dialed in after just one pass and the second pass I got a new best all around, cut my first 1.2x 60' and went a 1.29 60' with a 5.74 @ 120.31! It was an 1/8th mile event, so I was just cutting it at the 1/8th since that's what I was testing for, but I wish I would've run it out, that would've been an 8.9x for sure!!!!! I still can't believe I cut a 1.29 on those little 275's, and thanks to Billyman I didn't have to mess with tire pressure, he gave me the magic # before I went out there and it worked perfect, I was a little sceptical to put it that high, so on the first pass I had it lower and it shook the tires real bad, so I figured **** it, i'll give it a shot and bumped it up to where he said and viola! Anyways, saturday for qualifying I figured i'd bump the ramp up a little bit and try and knock that 60' down some more because on the 1.29 it just pulled up a foot and held it there till I shifted second, but it was too much and she stood up to the bumper, but I was able to bring her down smooth and ran out to a 5.88 @ 120 and qualified 8th in a 16 car field, but went out in the first round, turned the controller down a little and went a 1.33 60' with a 5.84 @ 120 to the other guys 1.39 60' with a 5.71 @ 125, was just too outgunned in that one, nothing I could do!

Here's the slip:

Anyways, i'm gonna be swapping out my t400 for a glide, and go back out for the next one and see if I can't go a little faster and get that 60' down some more, can't wait!

BTW, here's a pic someone snapped on the way up to the bumper in qualifying, too bad they didn't get me at full extension:

Nice work Devon, you've got the car working good, and on the smallest damn tire anyone races on

Keep at it and you'll have it in the bottom 1/2 of the 5's before too long

Thanks dude, I think on this same jetting with the glide, leaving a little harder and a little better 60' I can get in the 5.6's and then I gotta get a better plate so I can up the shot, i'm still on a 275 hit, I tried bumping up and the plate didn't flow it, I gained nothing.

BTW, the car never ceases to amaze me, I could not believe it was hooking the way it was on the little radials, especially considering i've never run any radial before! But i'll tell you this, with unfavorable conditions those tires are not very forgiving, during the day on saturday it was in the mid 90's and the track got melted after my first couple practice runs in the morning and on the third run it spun really bad, it just blew the tires off and went a 2.1 60' and I was in and out of it the whole way, after that I decided not to make anymore time runs because I knew it was just a waste and didn't want to make any suspension adjustments because I knew the track would be good later on when the sun went down and qualifying/elims started. I haven't had a 60 ft that bad since it was stock!

Nah, nobody got video, but I have video of other runs that she's gone up, it's cool to do once, but it sucks when it starts happening regularly when you don't want it too and keeps you from leaving harder to go faster!:

I'd love to have some more details, like raceweight and what that magic tire psi was....

Raceweight's 3400 and tires were at 19 psi. First run they were at 16 and it shook 'em really bad, almost rattled my teeth out of my head!

Very nice congrats. Yea that is a bummer that your didn't run it out and the reason i go for broke on each and every run, but I have a 6-speed so the record runs are even farer and fewer, lol...
