Default what gear ratio should i use?

I'm looking to buy a 12 bolt and i have a six speed car with about 500hp to the wheels a cam and 150shot. I had 4.10 gears in the stock 10 bolt, but now i've been told to run a 3.73 because i'm running nitrous now. I'm also going to be running a 26inch tire until i get new rims for the back to fit 28-10.5. I figure if i drop the gear i will gain some mph and drop my ET, so if anyone has some advice for me let me know please.

You're right that nitrous likes less gear & taller tires.
What's best will depend on the combination of everything about your car.
If 4.1:1 ratio was good for you NA, then I'd think 3.5:1 - 3.7:1 with the 28" tire would be great on the bottle.
The optimum shift RPM also usually drops when you're on the bottle, so you could also get benefit from short shifting as compared to NA runs.

i'm going to be running the 26-10.5 for now, so do you think going with the 3.73 with still help me or should i stick with 4.10

i have a m6,head,cam and full bolt on car w/a t.n.t kit. i run 4.11's in my 12bolt w/26'' tires. i cross the traps at 6,300rpm's in 4th gear on the nos w/ a 6,800rev limiter. i had 3.73's before and the car went no faster on the nos from the 3.73's. my car is faster on the motor because i cut better 60's with the 4.11's. i'de keep the 4.11's. i'm wondering, where did you get the 500hp # from? did you dyno that? or is that what you think you'll have w/the nos? i dynoed at 519hp w/a 100 shot.

for a m6, go with a 4.10 and a 28in tire with the spray. for us a4 guys, we work beter with 3.73 with the 28in tire.

I dyno'd 423 to the wheels without nitrous so i think i'll be at least around 500hp with a 150 shot.

My car is similar to Mike's, and in the the fall, I will be keeping my 4.10s with an added 100-125 shot. Traction concerned me, but with these Mickey Thompson Street Radials, I doubt that will be an issue.

This is a very good topic. I have been wondering about this myself. I have 4.10's now, but don't want to have to drop to 3,73's if I don't have to. I have a 382 w/200 shot so I might not be able to get away with it. It's a M6 tranny.
