Default Nitrous V.S. Supercharger

Sup all. I'm looking at getting procharger, but am wondering if i should just spray the hell out of my car. It's a 98 Trans Am with a few after-market parts that leaves it sitting around 380 hp . I'm not nearly happy with those numbers, and want to push my car as far as i can take it with the ls1 engine. On a budget around 6k-7k, I was thinking of going the Ford route and supercharging the engine, but recently my friend (2000 camero ss / 450ish hp) is going the Spray route, putting down around 650rhp with spray. Im looking to at least be pushing 600-700 hp and will replace any parts needed for my cars' tranformation, but wonder if i could spend less, and have less of a hastle with spray. What would win, how much, and what would make my car roar.
(Supercharger v.s. Nitrous)
Help me decide.

Thanks,
Chris

The colors in your post makes reading it uneasy on the eyes.

Anyway, you should just search and read as much as you can on both topics writing down the pros and cans of eahc as well as prices. Then use that to decide what YOU want because that's what it boils down to.

I have done both. I prefer FI, the bottle was a pain in the ***. But Nitrous can be faster than FI, due to torque it can make.

So I run both.

Umm what do you have now? For those #s your going to need a heads/cam/nitrous setup. I agree and say go forged and spray a 200-250 and get it tuned right and you'll love it.

i would say no more than 11.2-3 Compression ratio.... youll have to keep some good (92+) gas in your big tank... and 100+ in your stand alone..

Nitrous will be cheaper but you will have to refill the bottle. The power is always there with a blower. It's a tough call but you can always do both. If you want the power now, Nitrous is the way to go. I second the forged internals, while you are at it, make it a stroker.

the only thing i hate about FI is that you cant use a huge lopey cam.... i like to have the car rock back and forth and here it scream.... and then spray it.... but thats just me.... but yeah forge it... (i will this winter) and mabey make it a 383 or a 347.... then direct port atleast a 200

See chris now you see why i did my forged 347 setup and now i got the 250shot, ill show you what you should do as soon as we get that nitrous hooked up and go for a little test flight. But my honest opinion i would perfer to go supercharger cause of the instant power and not having to worry if the bottle is full.

talk to you later

11:1 ratio and 100+ shot?

I dont know if this question applies but..

How much psi is a 100 shot equivalent?

I ask this because if forged 11:1 compression can take a 200 shot, i guess it can take a good amount of psi..

Can some one clear this for me?

No matter what get a forged bottom end. That should be your first major expense. If you want to be different than the majority then go supercharger or turbo. If you want to save money and go fast every time your bottle is full then go nitrous. Just remember when the bottle is empty then the fun is gone. If I had to do it all over again I would have gone 408ci and turbo.

supercharger is NOT there all the time...make a couple of back to back runs, run it in the heat...you will feel the degredation in power....same with a turbo. Nitrous cars always seem to outrun the supercharged/turbocharged cars on the street around here....

for a street car, a bottle on a healthy engine is king...

I've noticed that as well...much easier to tune nitrous too. Weather in a bottle is a good thing.
