Default Black car + hot weather + full bottle =?

Will i rupture a burst disc if i have my car sitting in direct sunlight on a hot day in the summer heat? If so, how can i prevent that?

Black car + hot weather + full bottle = No need for a bottle warmer.

The disk shouldnt blow, you should be fine. i have a black car and with hot weather and a full bottle i have never had a problem.

Interesting post...I've never even considered that. Bump because I'd like to know the answer as well.

I believe the disks are rated for 3000psi.

LOL,

I had a bottle with about 3 pounds in it in my red car durring the hot day, opened it up to see pressure and it was in the 1800 area. They are rated at 3000 psi and you better not be in the vehicle if it blows without a blowdown tube. Not having the bottle in is the only way, unless you can keep the temperature low.

I would bet a full bottle in 90 degree weather for a couple hours will rupture.

I Just filled a bottle this past week in my car- i live about 2 hours north of Houston. It was pretty hot that week. My dad wanted to use my bottle on another car so i said i would come over and he could use mine. I went to pull it out of the car and to my suprise it was completely bone dry. My dad said "why didn't you just tell me you used it all!" I said I didn't even crack the bottle. So I removed the cap and saw there was a hole in the burst panel. I think they bust at 3000psi, i am glad i didn't spray the car on one of those hot days before it blew. I keep my bottles out of the car now unless i am going to use it or its winter. BTW, my car is som with t-tops.

I have seen my needle pegged at 1500. Worried? yes. Blew? no.
But I really wanted to hit the button and see how much more power I get. I refrained... for now.

On hot days, I try and burry my bottle in as much towels and blankets as I can. It helps keep the temps within reason.

I have a cool cloth I put on mine it helps, it is sort of a shami made to go around your neck, I get it wet and lay it on the bottle. A ziplock bag of ice folded in works even better.

Its not uncommon for my bottle to reach 1500+psi since it's parked outside all the time. It's even pegged the nitrous gauge on those 100 degree days when I'm at school for hours at a time...no rupture yet. If it gets to that point I will put the bottle in some cold water. I would be pissed if I lost all my nitrous.

our buddy left 2 10 lb bottles and 1 15 lb bottle in his car while we were at the track. pewter car, windows cracked.

2 hours later noticed it looked like a fog machine in his car. 15 lber went boom and filled the whole car up with nitrous

black car, and I have the 15lber mounted on the back hump

last summer she pegged out at 1500psi. I was scared as ****. I took the bottle out of the car (hot as hell) and put it in the shade....took a LONG time for it to cool down

from now on I leave the bottle out of the car unless I'm going to the track.

My problem was sunlight I believe since its right under the rear hatch

I need to get one of those silver shiney suits that foundry workers wear and make a bottle blanket out of it lol

you should be closing your bottle when not using it anyway, so removing it shouldn't matter at all

it *is* closed, but it still leaves a bunch in the line. go try this, get a full bottle and put it in the car ready to go. close the bottle and take off the main feed line. watch how much stuff comes out. i did this the other day and got a big pile of snow on the carpet. i stuck my wrench under the dropping liquid nitrous, it boils instantly. its cool looking.

Thats what a purge is for. You close the bottle & then purge the line clean before disconnecting it. For the price of a decent purge kit I can't see why anyone would be without one.
