well as far as a 12 bolt go's, i dont really know alot about them. but i figure them to b quite a bit stronger than a 10 bolt. or you could always go eith a corporate 14 bolt! lol what about the dana 60 alot of truck guys use those and ive heard great things about them.

phil as far as your corvette idea, i say for 22,000 you could pick up one hell of a 2002 ls1 camaro, you could get one with really low miles and showroom condition.

Happy b-day bro!!! And yeah I feel you on the whole age thing. I relized it also and that's why I'm doing what I have to do my car before I start to think about a house.. Car first.... Then house..... Only 22k for a c5 Zo6 that's not bad..

9" all the way for me.

If you don't mind having payments hanging over your head for a few years then the Vette is the way to go...But just remember, Vette guys get that special tax on their parts as well as insurance cost are more I would imagine. Make sure you can afford everything that goes with it. I'd be trying to go with the Vette if it were me

BUT if you don't, don't limit yourself to a 383. We can do a 408 for you that would rip up the streets and track.

Well, to be honest, the axles usually are not the first weak link in a 10 bolt. The ring gear is only 7.765" diameter, compared to a 9" ring gear on the 9" rearends. The pinion gear has a smaller diameter shaft and the bearings are also small so they don't distribute the load very well. The 10 bolts just have too many weak points to make it a viable choice for a 6sp car that sees alot of track events. Personally, I'd rather be racing,,, not fixing rearends.

If you're hardcore GM and want to keep your car that way, then a 12 bolt is a good alternative. They too have "some" of the inherent weakness', one them being a small diameter pinion. The housing's tend to flex so the gears need constant setup work if you want them to live under a 6sp drag car.

Corporate 14 bolt,,,,, now you're talking lol..... But that thing weighs about 100lbs more than a 12 bolt or a 9". Our cars are heavy enough I think.

I haven't even mentioned that a 9" is so much easier to work on. Just remove the center section and you setup the gears on your workbench instead of crawling under the car. The side adjusters on the carrier are threaded, so you don't have to shim the gears, then re-shim, then re-shim again and again and again...... I could go and on for days........

Oh no the z28 stays with me till death! Someday the lt1's will be rare but for now I want my girl to be able to drive it. I was 16 in 94 and told myself someday Im gonna get one of those cause at the time I drove a 1970 camaro with a 250hp 350 that was a dog and all the lt1's smoked me lol

The z06(3051lbs) will be right at 400rwhp with intake, headers, tune!!!

i dident know all of that. ive heard the 9" robs about 30hp? i understand it would be reasonable though since you dont have to replace rear ends all the time. i guess i just thought the 12 bolt was about as good for a 10 second car.

so phil what year vette you gonna get?

Dummy question time, rim screws go on both inside out outside of the wheel right? First time messing with this, heh.
