im sure you have bro, i dont doubt it. your camaro was some kind of freak thats for sure. most dont turn out the way yours did tho. 99.9% of the time AFR,TF, TEA will smoke the same car with 243s or 5.3s. i may have decided on what build im gonna start, still need to figure out what heads to go with. its between LS7 heads or AFR 245s. gonna check out some others as well. but leaning toward a set of mamofied AFR 245s. cam will be specd by tony or pat. kinda curious about an EPS cam in a larger cube motor though. im not gonna say to much about this build until i have a shortblock tho.

Show us some proof that a car with AFR/TF/TEA heads wins 99.9% of the time. There are a lot more variables that come into play to winning a race.

Those heads your talking about might work better on bigger cube motors but for a extra 5 to 10 horse gain its not worth the extra money.

My stock 799's milled did just as good as these stage 2.5 ls6 heads i have right now.

i dont mean that it will win a race. i meant that the beter aftermarket heads will outperform the cheaper heads.

guys i dident mean for this to turn into a big debate. i just thought i was telling todd that tony will do some extra work to those afrs if he goes that route. i wish i had gone with aftermarket cuz i feel like the 243s i have are a bit of a dissapointment, i feel like i should have gotten more out of my build. but anyway go with whatever heads you feel like bro, it aint my car! lol

i currently have the funds to build any motor i can think of. all i have to do s start getting **** ordered and spec'd lol. im not ready yet. i think im staying NA tho just to save money.

ill be running AFR heads lets see who can build the more powerfull LS7. lol

when are u building this motor? i heard you were building a 441? thats what im leaning toward right now as well. only thing is i have a hard time pulling the trigger on spending that kinda cash.

You might just have the wrong cam and heads setup. Plus dyno numbers do not win race's nor are they real. My vette according to the dyno made more power with a 5.7 and it trapped on average 122 and now with the lq9 it made like 6 less horse and my car traps 123 to 124 average. Get your car tuned and race it

sorry i should have given more info about that. my trap speed is a big part of why im dissapointed in my Heads and or cam. im only trapping 115, i think it should be quite a bit higher than that. i was trapping 111 with bolt ons. anyway a low trap speed is a sign that my motor aint all that you know?

Trap speeds don't always tell the whole story either unless you have the seat time at the drag strip to know what the engine/car likes. I've played around with shift rpm/rev limits and picked up 3 mph in trap speed with no other changes! Everyone wants to believe they are John Force behind the wheel but the truth is, a whole lot of seat time at the track will bring out the most from a particular setup. This is even more crucial with a stick car IMO.

^^ ive made quite a few runs. i tell ya one thing that would help my trap speed is some better tires and stronger clutch. i spin quite a bit coming out of the hole and my clutch pedal sticks everytime yet im still managing 12.1, i think that is not to bad considering those two things. dont get me wrong, im not claiming to be driver of the year. i dont give the car enough credit tho. im sure it has a 11.7@118 in her

all this head talk. are you guys talking on a 5.7 or 6.0? For the price, LS3 heads are amazing.

SDPC had a package on sale a lil bit ago.

The basic kit will include our CNC ported LS3 heads, complete with .650" capable dual springs and Ti retainers, two rocker pedestals, 8 factory LS3 offset intake rocker arms, a GM LS3 intake manifold that is complete with factory fuel rail and 34# injectors. -$1825 shipped
Thats pretty much the same cost as the as cast trickflow 220s, and you would still need the YT rockers.

Called and spoke to Tom too. Hopefully going to get my car up there next month for the new diff and a few other parts.

In my ls3 top end, I spent 650 on the heads, like 270 for the intake, I think 150 or so for the rockers and 900 for the port. And sold my old setup for more than that and will flow better. Hopefully lol

I see there is quite the motor debate going on right now. Anyway I got a chance to actually play with the camaro this weekend and have now caught the autox bug. I did way better than I was expecting for my first time out and had a ton of fun. The downside is now I don't know about modding the car as it will change my class. Agh!!!

I dunno what all this talk is of expensive *** all-motor builds. Throw a shot on it or a turbo kit = $$$/HP.

No doubt. These motor builds won't take place. It's wishful thinking....and a waste of money on a Fbody platform IMO.

Who cares about the platform.. Build your motor now and if you're not like me and hope it still works in about 3 years.. Pull it out and put the old one back in and sale it to get a vette.... I probably won't do that..lol.. Wishfull thinking though
