I'm not a big fan of the 4.1+ stroke cranks, especially on a 6.0 iron block with short cylinder walls.

Greater thrust angle = greater piston loading against the cylinder wall. Couple that with a short cylinder length and it's a recipe that many engine builders don't care for. I personally wouldn't run a 4.1+ stroke crank in any LS based engine except a tall deck block. But that's just me.

Totally agree. It would be interesting to find out what kind of longevity this setup is capable of...especially with some spray or FI. I'm no expert, but it seems like it would be a pretty short-lived scenario.

There is a lot of controversy over running a 4.1" stroke on an ls block. It puts too much pressure on the sides of the piston skirts, especially with how short they are as it is. A lot of people don't even like the 4" stroke just because you don't have much piston side skirt to make it be able to clear the crank. look in some of the threads people get furious about it lol.

It isn't just you that thinks that. A friend (in Utah) HAD a 427 Agastino that he had nothing but problems with and eventually meet it's demise.

In my experience a motor built as close to square as possible usually last the longest and you can spin the crap out of them.

ive decided not to go with the 421 stroker...it will be about another 6 months before im gonna seriosly plan out my build anyway. need to catch a few more squid before i can afford it. im kinda thinking a 408 would be the most cost effective anyway

but isnt a turbo/IC plus the price of the block and and all the internals gonnna cost significantly more than say a 408? i guess a turbo 370 should be good for about 550+hp? i really have no clue, plus its harrd for me to judge stuff like that since my brain surgery

actually a lsx454 shortblock only costs $2K more than a 408 short block..if i do well enough with fishing the rest of the year ill pull the trigger on the 454. im just in dream mode right now but the 454 is the motor i want and hope to have.

Just depends man. Do you want to buy a turbo or SC new or used? New you're looking at about 3G's and up for either set up. I would find a motor in a wrecking yard like I did. I only paid 1,000$ for mine. Internals, again just depends on what you want. I'll be probably 4grand into my motor before I sell everything else and will have around 620+ to the wheels. Hell John aka fury is into only 1600 including his motor.
