Default New Top 10 rules?

Since that sticky is closed, I guess I'll start a new thread for discussions. That is IF it's open for discussion?! I have a question about a couple rules. (flame suit on)

First, the rule saying it had to run last year - so what about guys that didn't run last year? Like Boyce, or Bill, or Ellis, or any of the new cars like Erics or Bobbys or .......

And what about the no BBC or SBC powerd cars? That means Bill's 71 Camaro or my car if I decided to put in a 350 or if someone bought a 89 SC TA........ do not qualify!

Did I miss something here?

I think you are misunderstanding them. The way I read it is if after a year your time will not count anymore unless you back it up. And for the second part, it says ANY fbody. It just says no hybrids with BBC or SBC, has to be LS1.

You might be right Eric, but looking at them again, I'm not so sure.....

1) Car must be a Fbody/Y-body/LSx powered hybrid vehicle. So all years of Camaro, Corvette, Trans Am, Formula are eligable. Hybrid cars MUST be LSx powered (C5R is acceptable). BBC and SBC powered hybrids not eligable for list.

5) At the time of new rules (effective 01/01/05) if the car has not made the pass in the previous year it is not eligible for the list.

Mark IF the car falls into one of the above areas it is good to go.

a LS6 Chevelle is as good as a 690CI BBC 2002 Z28

BTW I think the rules are good and fair.

No my car has not ran and falls from the list. seems fair to me

So if we ran last year can we turn in a valid timeslip right now to start off the list?

The way I understand it, it should read like this
"Car must be a Fbody/Y-body/ OR LSx powered hybrid vehicle"

powertrain and body combos:
any f body is eligable, regardless of motor
any corvette is eligable, regardless of motor
any LSx powered vehicle is eligable, regardless of car body

so no sbc/bbc chevelles, vegas, etc.....

hows that?

I think you might have missed it a little

Any fbody or ybody with any motor as long as it came with that motor. If it's a hybrid then it's got to have an LSx motor. You can take an LS1 and put it in my '71, but you can't take the BBC out of my '71 and put it in a 4th gen.

So I did not run my car last year and am putting on a single turbo as we speak so I will not be able to qualify? Can someone please explain this rule in more detail on why you had to have a run in last year to qualify this year?

I think anybody will be eligable once they run and fall within the rules. It just means if after once you are on the list, and nobody is as of yet. If you haven't run the car again within one year from that date, to at least an equal or better time, you are gone or dropped down on the list accordingly to your slower time.

Well, personally I want ALL of us to have a shot at being on this list. It IS all about us after all. It's fun to have some friendly competition between us friends to banter back & forth over. If it's like Rick thinks, then that's cool.

However, if it turns out to be rather exclusionary as I read it, then **** it! I aint announcing / posting my times & don't want to be a part of it. I don't want anything to water down my victory over Bills Rat-camaro this year when I blow his doors off & knock him off the list!

No worries here Ellis. It's not like it upsets me. I'm all about the fun of racing against all my buds. Win, lose, LT1, BBC, I don't care. I'm just trying to make sure we don't take the fun out of this.

I mean what's the point of having bragging rights if half the cars can't play? Where is the joy in being able to say you're the top dog in the NW if there's an asterisk next to it that says Ellis & Ryans times didn't count? And I don't want this to adversely affect the little thing Bill & I had going either. Ya know?

But if, as it appears, it DOES do these things, then there is no reason for me to participate. No anger, just fact. (& I'm pretty sure my car will be top 10 material this year in case anyone thinks it's just sour grapes on my part)

I think Boyce is going to have to clear this up for all of us, because the way I read it is says exactly ANY year Camaro/Firebird/Corvette can compete.
