Default Welders, Fab guys for cage around NW WA???

Hey guys im out in oak harbor, wa and was wondering if there was anyone who does custom fit cages or the equipment to? I figure it would cost the same as buying and then having welded in.

Also if any of you guys have the resources I would be more than willing to pay you for your labor and give you a hand in the garage.

isn't yours a billingsley cage jason? I would more or less like to have something custom fabbed so that it tucks really close to the body panels.

It's not that big of a deal. I'll have to check out your cage more closely today. I would also like something where the door bars are removable or at least drop down a little. I would rather a drop down bar (where the side bars look like boomerangs) so that the wife can get in and out pretty easily. I'll check around.

We all built ours out of a Morrison 8 point kit and Used alston swing outs. i use dual swingouts to stiffen my car evenly

I came up with a slick way to make the bar as non-intrusive as possible. many here are using this setup now

HERE are my words of wisdom...

do they offer it in chromoly? I'd like as little weight in the car as possible seeing as how it's going to be a daily driver and need to keep a lot of stuff in the car still.

I thought you didn't want chromoly in a daily because of the rough roads and stuff it was best to go with steel?

huh? dude chromoly is just a stronger form of steel, so you don't have to use as thick of a wall, thus saving weight. it's just mild steel versus 4130 steel.

Chrome moly for the average racer isn't worthwhile. It costs more to buy, you can't weld it at home unless you have the tig equipment required, and you can't stress relieve it properly. So you have to have it done at a professional shop at professional prices which usually is much more than the average racer wants to pay.

If you're driving the car daily you are definitely in the average racer category and should look at mild steel cages. Much cheaper to buy and have installed and you're not gaining that much weight over chrome moly... after all you're only drag racing it (5 or 6 pt bar required) and not doing a dedicated road racing car with 150 ft of tubing.

My cage is chome moly. To duplicate it would cost in the 3500-4500 range. There are shops here that will do it right but wont touch it for less than 3500.

Brads custom auto
cascade motorsport

For someone just looking for a roll bar for the occasional weekend event or lap day. Go with mild steel.

I'm not sure we want to know. Sort of like the "Ellis by the gas tank...aka secret fuel additive" pic from a couple of seasons ago at a CCC race
