I guess another question would help what are you after?
If I read your question that you want to shine a light at night and not see it would be flat black, like the armed forces. Gloss in shiney so it will reflect light.

That's somewhat of a loaded question. Usually when people refer to 'depth' in paint, it's in reference to how shiny/reflective it is, meaning it reflects your image when you're looking into it and you can see objects behind you etc..

I agree. Deeper would be the gloss. Less reflective would be the flat.

I dont want it to be reflective as much as just plain black. When the sun hits it what color will it show. I used semi flat and it seems to reflect the orange of the sun, more than pronounce the black. This is for whistler mod. I'm not painting the reflectors, just the bezels.
