Post Sumitoyo 315's?

Great news... was at my parents' place today and mom noticed by front 245's were nearly bald (I have new 275 Eagle F1's out back on ZR1s). She saw an article on old tires falling apart on the highway and insisted dad pony up for new tires as my grad present. (I graduate with my "BS" next week... hold your jokes :p)

I guess I'm getting 315's back on the BADBIRD... that should help with the traction issue a bit. Ever since this rebuil I seem to be "slipping" a bit on "launch"...errr... I mean "starting in first gear". :p

So anyway... PLEASE tell me these tires are decent. I heard Ellis mention a cheap 315 he was using for street use and "I think" these were them... $99each just seems TOO cheap for some reason. I don't wanta blow my grad presents first time I launch hard. ARE THESE THE CHEAP 315's I SHOULD GET?

I have them on my car..They hook a better than my 275's Zr1's did and there cheap. I'm sure if they made a 315 ZR1 for us, that would hook better than the Sumis. For the price you can't go wrong! Assuming they're SUMITOMO'S right? Did you get that balancer replaced yet?

The Sumitomo's are a great street tire and the price just makes it better. I have a set on the back of my car right now. From all I have heard they wear great also.

BTW That is what was on my car transfering all 642HP/632TQ on the dyno and "I" did not have a slipping problem

I had 275's Sumitomo's on the front and 315's on the back (on 11" rims) on my TA and they were great tires. Nothing I would recommend for drag racing (unless you can't afford drag radials), but they did fine on the street, lasted a long time and were nice and inexpensive. I highly recommend them.

I never had any problems per se, but I doubt I would use them for a wet road course. Of course, I tend to drive a lot more mild then some of you folks.

What size ZR1's are these going on btw? Hopefully 17x11 because 315's are unsafe on 17x9.5

I have 2 sets of Sumitomo (all seasons and summer tires) I've also had a few other sets. I like them.

Yeah, put 275s on your 17x9.5s and 315s on your 17x11s

lol... ummm yeah, they're for the 17x11's.

I've ran 275 Nitto 555R's and didn't like them in the rain... standing water was SCAREY on the interstate. Plus they don't wear very will. They HOOK... but they skwurm a bit under hard accell and track the highway grooves. Awesome for the track, but take more care to drive than they're worth in this area (of course I was so stubborn I wouldn't take them off in monsoon season).

BTW, I actually DID get some 275's mounted on the 17x11's once, just to see if the sidewall would be stiffer for better handling. It was a little harder ride, and bumps did come through harder. It was way too hard to get them on there through, most shops wouldn't even mount them (even though TECHNICALLY they are rated for 11" rims) just cause they're such a pain to get mounted.

I'm inclined to belive 295's would be a good fit on 17x11's, but these 315's are such a good deal I had to bite.

Just got the hub in the mail Saturday.

I DID mount that 25" glasspack next to the driveshaft thuogh... that REALLY helped quiet it at cruising, car sounds much better.

Tires should be here Tuesday, and I'm hoping my 160* stat comes in this week took.

It's comming together slowly...
