You would probably be hard pressed for someone to paint it at all. You got to concider you are asking someone to paint on top of a prep job they didn't do AND with materials they might not know. Good luck with it.

I charge $300 to spray a car that someone else prepped and taped off. A true Tri-stage Kandy I'd probably charge $900-$1000 to spray depending on how big the car is, and what color it is.

I work out of my personal garage. I've been doing my own cars for years plus collison work. Got sick of the rat race, in the computer field and went at this full time. Much happier and I work less hours and make more money.

If someone I know needed a car painted and all I had to do was spray it, I'd be happy to do it for a case of beer! Plus I eat alot, so need to be fed haha!

Rolling Rock right...

To pay someone $900 - $1000 is rediculous especially if that is all that needed to be done. Now maybe if he blocked down the guide coat, painted it, put a couple coats of clear on it, blocked the clear, cleared it again, wet sanded and buffed it then that would be a deal and a hell of a finish

That's what I would charge for a Kandy job just to spray it. For a few reasons.
1 It takes way longer. A normal base clear job is mabye three hours of spraying not including cleanup for the exterior, and an hour and a half of spraying for the jambs. The tri stage doesn't quite double that, but it's close. Depends on how big the vehicle is.
2 The skill level required to do a top notch Kandy job is much higher than your average painter can swing. I'm not saying the average painter can't put the paint on the car, there's nothing voodoo about the material... but the risk of screwing something up is tremendous, and then the painter is ultimately responsible for the screwup. That's why I charge so much more, because I know I can get it right , and most people can't. Especially the lighter Kandies, there is almost inevitably dark spots at the edges of the panels, stripes on the hood and roof, dust in the midcoat that will never sand out, light spots in the wheelwells..etc.

If someone did all the work you mentioned above, that would be a hell of a deal. Blocking urethane, painting Kandy, re-sanding, re-clearing, and wetsanding and buffing an entire car would be about 50+ hours work... so you're right, that would be a hell of a deal. Just be weary of the "hell of a deal" with paint and body work. There aren't too many skilled craftsmen who can afford (or would want to) work for beer I'm not saying deals never happen... hell, one time I built an entire engine from the block up, painted all the coils and intake..etc, fabbed some carbon fiber accessories, installed and baseline tuned it for a friend for just the cost of the materials and parts.... that just doesn't happen too often.

wow it is easy to see who doesnt paint in here
you have no clue what it takes to do a car and do it RIGHT
last candy job i did the owner paid over 3k just for materials
i personally wont trust someone elses prep job
if you looking to pay 300 for a custom job you better take that **** to macco and then get your grinder out to wet sand and buff that bitch
candy is one of the hardest to get even threw out the car when i do one i always walk the sides

900 is a steal for some one who knows what they are doing
