I've bought paint from a local paint store that mixes their own. It wasn't the greatest match, so I'm never going there again.

I've heard great things about paintscratch.com. You can buy as much as you want or as little as you want.

I went to a local paint shop. They insisted on putting 'the camera' on my car even though I had the color code. They say it's necessary to do that because of fading, and it gets a better match. Even though I told them the car is garage kept and where the paint is going is near the bottom and doesn't see sun when it is out.

I got PPG same as factory so they said, probably the most expensive brand they had.

Here's a great place to get paint. https://www.paintscratch.com/ They matched my mystic teal metallic paint exactly which is VERY hard to do!! Mine was a 2 step process though with base and clear. If you tried to use just the base color it was flat. I'm not sure how the touch up stuff is as far as having a gloss finish to it like conventional touch up paint. They are a very good source of info as far as paint codes as well.

Not when it's an exact match to your factory paint. I've actually used their product in a color that is hard to match right. It matched up exactly. Use cheap paint and it may not match perfect.

I bought R-M Diamont base from http://www.autobodysupply.net/Diamont.htm

They called me to verify the color code when they had a question (apparently my car brought up 2 different blacks for some reason).

I'd say the match is 99%. From 1 foot away it's the same, but when you squint really really hard at the edges and compare between panels, there's just an ooch difference. Not enough to tell unless you stare at the panel very hard.

Their NBM looks to be $48/pint or $69/qt.
