The problem is it still won't look as good as a hardtop. Whether you paint the glass or do a custom fiberglass mold, you'll still have the black rubber trim and the black center piece that will stand out.
Now if you can figure out a way to get rid of all that black, you've got my attention. I'd like it to look like a C3 - you can hardly tell they've got T-tops.

the targa would be kool because it would get rid of that stupid middle plastic piece. if you did fiberglass molds i would definately get rid of the trim so it looks like a hard top.

if you do targa you are compromiziing alot of the cars structure and it will need more than just subframe connectors to stiffen it back up... i wouldnt do that unless you are very experienced in this feild... painted t-tops might look nice tho...

I was thinking of more or less the same idea, quik01ss. It's not something I'd keep on the car 24/7, but maybe...well....ok, so I don't know when I'd put 'em on, but it'd be somethin different! haha I guess they'd just be an alternative to the glass ones. Oh, I GOT it!! They'd be lighter! For on the Track! OK, I'm just trying to find excuses....

I'd buy something lighter to go in place of my T-Tops, but only if it was decently cheap. I wouldn't just buy it if it didn't save semi-significant amounts of weight though... Who really cares if your T-Tops are fiberglass or glass with a shade?

I think the best deal would be to make a sheet of fiberglass that you would put the t top seals around and asm the plastic trimming. Basically a stock t top with the glass replaced with fiberglass insert.
Selling just the insert and you put the rest together would mean a low enough price for all of us. I would love to see that product come out!!!
I would buy it for the weight and the fact it would help keep out some sunlight during summer where in winter glass t tops are great.

I know this is going in a different directrion than the original post, but is it that easy to make a t-top car into a hardtop car by just buying the sail pannel, headliner and the trim peices? I would really like to make my car a hardtop car.

Ugh, targa looks sweet, but should be reserved only for the V6s, as it kills all structural stability, and will cause some serious flex...
I'd suggest removing the plastic piece between the tops, and making a single piece that latched in on both sides... not sure how you would keep it from lifting up in the center while driving though...

The Camaro was designed as a 'vert, than with a different profile, built into a coupe. The frame and structure of a vert is a lot more than just a coupe with a chopped roof.
