I own a pair of new Turbonetics 60-1 and a new pair of Turbonetics T76's. The TC78 has the same amount of shaft play as my new 60-1's and T76's or the same amount as when it was new from Turbonetics.

You may want to go educate yourself on turbos. There is a tiny bit don't know the exact number either thousandth or hunderedth thousand of an inch to allow oil between the shaft and bearing. There is no lateral play though ( in and out.)
