Default Lots of bolt ons, how much hp did an NA tune get you?

I have a 2002 WS6 TA, it has full bolt ons less a pulley. My question is...is a tune worth it at this point? How much HP did your tune get you (people with similar mods)? Thanks for all input.

I'm kinda wondering the same thing I'm debating whats gonna give me more hp full bolt ons or cam without full bolt ons. I know bolt ons will get the max outta it but still on a budget.

Ive already got the bolt-ons, I need to know if a tune is worth it right now and if so, how much of a gain should I expect?

a tune is always worth it if u have full bolt ons. car will run smoother and pick up a decent amount. unless ur gonna do a cam or something soon get a tune now

I can get a basic flash to remove my torque management, which in turn would improve the firmness of my shifts. That still doesn't answer my question....HOW MUCH POWER WILL I GAIN???

From what I understand it's not really about getting more power. Yes you could get a very aggressive tune and pick up a few horses, but that'd be at the cost of a higher risk of blowing up your motor. And I'm sure that there is some gain even with a street tune. The main goal of a tune is to optimize the mods you already have. For example when you install headers the car will run rich, tuning will solve that problem.

I would say about 5-20 HP gain at WOT with all bolt-ons. Just leaning it out will probably get your 10 HP.

There are probably people who have gained more, but thats a range.

IMO, it is worth it. If you can get +15-20 HP more..thats comparable to adding headers...

Without going to the edge on the tune, I've seen A4 bolt-on cars (lid/headers) pick up 10~12 rwhp at the tire.

That's about average for a bolt on NA tune, a fair gain for a little amount of money really. Figure (roughly) a tenth in the quarter is a car length, so if you tuned your car, and your buddies car wasn't, you would take him by two car lengths.... priceless.

My predator tune bumped me up from 308 to 335, plus a broad and smooth bump of 20 ft\lb in the torque curve from 2k on up:

I imagine a good dyno tune could get a few more HP...

It's not usually peak power that is gained, it's power everywhere that is gained! Usually the car with a good tune will pickup alot of tip in and throttle response and will generally run smoother and make more power under the curve. I've personally seen a car go from 12.8 consistantly untuned with full bolt-on's go 12.2's consistantly in the same weather and DA just by tuning!

If it was just engine tuning it may or may not be worth it, but since you have an A4 the tranny tuning is where you'll probably gain the most.

i've got a full bolt on '01 A4 SS. Lid, CAI, 2400 stall, 3.73's, Kook's LT's, pulley, ported TB, 3" ORY, & Dyno mouth exhaust. I was also running pig rich!!

George Lara tuned my car 2 weeks ago and now feels way more crisp in acceleration and has more power (street tuned, not dyno tuned). We evened out the AFR from "stopped" to "WOT" and it's a great SOTP feel. The car just makes so much more power. Tuning is more about the overall performance than it is about numbers. The cars will react better and feel more pleasant to drive.

I also picked up almost 50 miles per gallon on 2 tanks so far. And i'm running a safe tune..... not some leaned out performance tune.

Get a tune, bro!

Do you consider a manifold a bolt on? If not, you should be between 340 and 360.
