Are you bench reflashing it or doing it in the car? If you're doing it on the bench, you need to let the battery power hooked up after you turn off the ignion power pins.
If this is a swap are you sure, that all the battery connections on the PCM have constant power? Are you dong a complete flash or just a calibration flash? Do any DTC's come up after it doesn't start trhe first time?

Ive had the car running all last year and never had this problem. The whole car is together(wired the same) and im reflashing in the car. Sometimes it will take me 20+times to get it running...the car will fire and immediately die. Once I FINALLY get it running the car runs and stays running and I can turn the car off and restart it as many times as I want and it fires RIGHT up...until I reflash it again. Fuel pressure is a constant 58psi and my pump is run off a switch so it stays on and I know im not losing any pressure(watching the gauge)

I think this is idle airflow, learnings (LTIT/STIT) get lost
after flash and it takes a while to get it back. If the
base is way off (or if something has come on, that needs
more idle air than originally) it can take a bit of time to
learn its way back.
Same thing happened to me after cam swap, until I got
the idle bedded in again.

Whats your cranking VE set at?
Also, your VE Airflow at idle...If you are open-loop and not perfectly dialed in..about that the only thing that could explain it..

Stock. And what would make it do that a bunch of times then eventually just fire up and run? Once I get it to fire it and I turn it off it starts right back up again.

Its almost like to keeps defaulting to an inaccurate IAT and/or ECT reading.
When it finally cranks up, the PCM stores those IAT/ECT values. When you re-flash you somehow fail to store those values.
I am guessing, but that about all I can think of.
