Default Efilive turbo tune - getting less timing then commanded

Ok, both me an the tuner are stumped here. We are commanding 17* timing and sometimes ending up with 7! As an example @ 5400 and 210kpa my base timing is 27* and subracting 10* at that kpa so I should end up with 17 right? I'm getting 7*. No knock, ECT is not pulling timing, IAT's are not pulling timing. Don't know what's going on with it. We tried turning off the knock sensors, zeroing the iat and ect tables and nothing changes it.

Here's a run down of the engine
402ci ls1
twin turbo
cos3 3bar
engine is in a 64 Chevy II

any Idea's?

When you say base timing, I'm thinking base idle timing. I assume you're actually referring to the main spark tables. Have you maxed out all your torque management tables, abuse tables, and MAP/MAF test tables? If you exceed the factory values, the PCM will pull timing and/or close throttle in an effort to preserve the engine.

Sorry, I meant the main spark tables. All the above are maxed out. I'm leaning toward burst knock right now. That's the only thing I can think of that would pull timing that we haven't eliminated. Any chance of burst knock being the culprit? Since I'm forced induction and my timing is lower anyway would it make sense to just eliminate it?

Burst knock will certainly reduce timing if it's left stock.

Burst knock cannot pull the amount that you are losing though, especially north of 3K

Can't tell anything without seeing the tune. There's obviously an adder/subtracter table you've missed.

Here you go... I've seen this happen before, you have to zero out the TCS spark tables.

Wow,Thanks! Will it pull timing even with the Max Torque by Gear maxed out to 867?

Are you the guy that tuned Rons Mustang with the LS7?

Frank

Yes, it will... I ran across this on an F-Body where the guy removed the TCS module - as soon as he took the harness out, it started pulling timing - he didn't tell me he did it at first, just brought the car to me running bad - figured out what he did, zero'd out the TCS tables... back to normal. Have seen it on swaps like yours too...

Yes, I am the guy that tuned Ron's Mustang with the LS7 - that is one sweet car! I tuned his Cuda with the Hemi in it as well - Ron is one innovative guy! That has to be the only EFI Hemi on the face of the earth controlled by an LS1 computer and sensors...

Thanks for the help everybody! I finally got it today. Logged some of the dma's and found out it was Burst knock. Pulled 6.8*. Zeroed it out and logged another file and now the timing is solid as a rock and right where it should be.

Thanks for the help!
Frank

Glad you got it straight! I was just coming on to tell you that I forgot to zero out the burst knock in the one you posted... you beat me to it!

Thanks for the help! I actually can feel some more power on the butt dyno with the extra timing in there!

No problem. I'm sure you can feel a difference - that's a good bit of timing to be missing!
